Hello! I will try to get your answers right.
It is possible for two eggs to mature in the ovaries and even more by the influence of a certain hormone called follicle-stimulating hormone. However, only ONE egg is usually released from either left or right ovary.

However, it may happen but rarely that two eggs are released and then both of these eggs are fertilized. This results in fraternal twins. It usually happens when a woman is taking medications of ovulation disorders and when ovaries become over-stimulated. It doesn’t happen so often though.

The released egg lives for only 24 hours and during that time, it must be fertilized. Once the egg is fertilized it may take it from 6-12 days to reach the uterus and implant itself into the endometrium (lining of the uterus).
