Yes, I have someone very close that seems to be losing his mind, but it comes and goes. For two to three days he is gone and slowly he returns to reality with no memory of how he has been acting and then is "normal" for long periods but always very tired.

I would be very aware of what's going on.. Get him help as soon as possible. That drug is deadly and I have lost 14 close people in my life for overdosing on it

Chronic use of Oxycontin can result in tolerance for the drugs, which means that users must take higher doses to achieve the same initial effects.

I went through the same thing. No family left, no friends. I hope your doing alright now.

I have been dating a guy a little over 2 months and he told me he became addicted to oxy and used for 2 years he is 37. He probably told me a few weeks into seeing him. I guess a part of me thought he had it under control as he said he was taking medicine for withdrawals for the last year, he said it was seboxone, sorry it if spelled that wrong. Well he recently ran out, then learned he purchased this medicine illegally and he said it was methadone this time. It started to become very real as he starting having withdrawal symptoms right in front of me. This literally scares me, I just did not see anything of this at first, but now his lack of relationships or short term relationships, money problems, laziness and severe depression are starting to make more sense now. What did I get myself into. I really like him but I am lost here, do I try to stay and help him or let him go? I have never been addicted to anything, the closest I have had to deal with it, it my stepfather's alcohol addiction which has done a number in my family, so I am really torn, stay or go? Please any advice would be welcome!

Hope you're doing ok! Just want to tell you it's possible....not easy any day of the wee but possible! I've been clean for 4 1/2 years. At the height of my abuse I was smoking 15 80's a day! Seems unreal when I write it down but reality sucks. Something I've learned in my journey is that anything you do can be duplicated....1 minute, 1 hour, and 1 day clean. This isn't something you can do in your own....clean support is needed, no matter if it's from family, New friends or strangers in a meeting. I wish you nothing but the best and I hope you beat the disease not the other way around!

I think you all are just getting high legally now. This is no cure for addiction, just a substitution. I've taken Suboxone before and went totally drug free, so I can't tell the difference between Suboxone and Oxycontin.
