I also had bunion surgery 11-13-14 and second toe was hammered, I had my bunion removed and my bone in my big toe and second toe shortened, a pin was in my second toe for just over 6 week's and the bone in my foot connected to my big ten also was shortened and a plate and screws are there, its been just about 12 week's and have to return to work in 6 days. Pain is bearable but still hurts and swells up like crazy, I still have big scabs from inincisions. Physical therapy 2 times a week for the last two weeks, seems to be helping a little but yes the pain sucks, all these post makes me feel there is no end in sight!

I had metatarsal surgery 4 months ago (both of my feet) and I've recently developed a burning sensation above my right foot. Although both feet seem to have un-swelled, I didn't have this burning sensation pain 2 weeks ago! Not quite sure what's going on! My DR keeps saying that everything looks fine but it sure doesn't feel like it!

I had bunion surgery and having intense swelling and pain underneath my big toe and upper part of my foot. Just told it could be the titantium screw, and will need to maybe remove if the four laser treatments don't work. When the foot is swollen, I cannot walk. I was a jogger. Any advice

I had bunion surgery the first time 2011, then a revision in 2013 due to a stabbing pain, and constant throbbing at the end of my toe, the screw was removed.
I've just been to see the surgeon again as the constant throbbing is making me miserable and I still get a sharp shock sometimes when walking in the tip of my toe , which makes walking extremely painful.
it appears after having X-rays that I now have advanced arthritis in my big toe where the op was its now collapsed the only treatments offered were pain killers and pain killing injections which might not work. If that doesn't help fusing my big toe which means I will not be able to wear any sort of heels or boots without zips again. Does anyone know of any alternative options!!

I'm 10 weeks post operation and suffering like you. Can't bear the thought that this will continue. In six weeks I'm off to on a 12 day coach trip abroad and terrified how I'm going to cope

I had a left bunion and two toes along with a hammer toe refix in April and am also having lots of pain. I am trying to walk but am unable to do do for any left of time. It looks like the right hammer toe joint has not united but the Consultant won't xray it wants me to wait before he xrays the toe to determine if any further treatment is required. I was advised that anti-inflamitories will not help with the healing. It might be better to get a second opinion.

I am 4 months post op too and my Dr told me this is very normal. It could take up to 1 year before your foot is no longer swollen or sore. It is a slow process, continue to elevate and ice when you have the opportunity.

Hi, I have the exact same issue. I did not have a pin taken out. I do have two pins in my big toe but the pain is the top middle three toes and across the top of my foot in that area. I cannot walk normal now and the pain is literally driving my crazy. I feel like I am wasting away and cannot do anything without pain. My surgery was in January, 4 months ago. Has anything changed for you?
