I'm still having pain from my first surgery that was a week before yours! Mine has gotten so severe at times that the only thing that takes the pain away is oxycodone! Yikes! Anyways, I asked my oncologist what it could be and after doing a sono and finding nothing wrong, they said it could be adhesion's (scar tissue) from the surgery. They said it could be extremely painful! So far, my pain comes and goes with it's severity everyday but its getting better.

I am 39 and two years ago had my right ovary removed , then last year had my left removed. When i bend down and go to straighten up i get severe pain on my left side and wondered if this could be lesions/underlying scar tissue sticking together where i had the surgey. Has anyone else experienced this. Also i am goin through the menopause because i am unable to take HRT due to my health. That sucks!!!

Hi all,
i know every one's pain is too bad. i want to share and get advices.
My sister since she got matured is s uffering with "great pain". it was horrible... continuous vomits and she coudn't take water even when she is suffering. it is like 14 years..... now she is 26 unmarried. a month ago she was underwent a surgery and her right ovary was removed.we thought she would be normal. but at her immediate menstrual cycle again she faced the same past horrible pain. Doctors now giving her hormones to stop menstruation so that the inner stritches wont get wet due to the bleeding during menstruation.
but ........ she is now suffering ver badly with the pain she is getting at her uterus lips... they are swollen... and the pain is like a hell. she can easily pass the urine but couldn'd bare the last drop and couldnt touch that area.we are helpless. please post your advices.dont ask us to see a doctor because we fed up consulting doctors in this 15 year period. share if you had had this experience. please.

It is comforting to see that I am not the only one in this situation; I had a fallopian cyst removed in early December and my periods have been irregular, but not very painful and lighter, due to the fact that I am now on a low-dose birth control pill. Except....my last two cycles have been very heavy and painful, much like the pain I was having before the surgery; and in the same exact place, scary!!! Should I go back to the doctor and ask for another ultra sound? Do these things come back or re-grow in the same places? Also, my pain is and always was on my left ovary, but the cyst was on my right side. Why? Any Answers?? Help!

About 5-6 months ago I had an ovarian cyst that burst, and along with it, I had appendicitis. I randomly started having extreme pains, and prior to that I was having pregnancy symptoms. Turns out in the ER, I was told that the pregnancy symptoms were coming from my cyst, apparently sometimes they can make you have those. And the pain was from my cyst bursting, and also a very early stage of appendicitis. So they went ahead and did surgery to remove my appendix so I wouldn't have to go back in a few months to do it and be in worse pain. Well anyways... About 2 years ago, I had an ectopic pregnancy, a type of miscarriage. Horrible time I won't get too in to that, it still really upsets me. I was lucky during the ectopic to still have my fallopian tube in good shape, and they decided it to be best to tie that tube off to take away the risk of a second ectopic. So since they tied it off, I only have a period once every two months instead of once a month.
So this leads to what I wanted to ask...
I still have periods once every two months, and ever since my cyst burst, my periods are very painful in the area where I had the cyst. Is this normal? I don't know how long it takes to heal or anything. And I am also worried of having a new cyst there.
(Also as a side note, I had the cyst since I was 14 and I am now almost 22. When I had the cyst, my periods would only last about 2 days long. I've noticed that after my cyst burst, I had normal week long periods. But gradually my periods have lasted less amounts of days. I'm down to about 2-3 days long again.)

The peeing part sounds a lot like a urinary tract infection. Look that up on web MD and have her read it to see if she relates to the symptoms. I know that when you are having pain and problems down there, it's very easy to get a urinary tract infection or a yeast infection.
And I know you said not to tell you go see a doctor... however, are you guys going to specialists? Or are you going to a family doctor or the ER? Because family doctors and ER are not always the best choice. I think if you haven't had her see a gynecologist or an obstetrician, that would be a very wise choice.
And I completely understand being fed up with doctors, but I would like you to know that you shouldn't give up hope on doctors. Keep searching for a good doctor. And fight your hardest to find answers for this!
Also, a very good idea would be to take her to a really good childrens hospital. I know the childrens hospital where I live takes patients up to age 28. Just call and ask and find out.
Good luck to your sister and family! I hope I helped a little bit. :]

I had a fifteen pound cyst removed, along with an ovary and a falliopian tube. This took place when I was 19 and I'm now 24. When I get my period, I still have pain there. Most of the time it is minor, however occasionally (once a year) I have to go to emerg the pain is so severe.
I was also told that it is probably a damaged nerve, there is not a lot they can do because they don't think it is worth it to be under the knife again for such a "small" issue. I don't want to rain on your parade in a sense, just don't panic if they pain continues beyond the healing process.
Just make sure that you let your doctor know.
Good Luck!

5 years ago I had both my right Fallopian tube & ovary removed due to a large dermoid cyst complication. For those wondering abt recovery time: I was quoted a heal time of about 6 weeks, but it was 4 months before I felt close to normal & I'd say fully a year before I felt truly well. Clearly, heal rate varies wildly. My mum was fine 6 weeks post hysterectomy--moving furniture even! So I kept comparing my heal time to hers & was disappointed, as well as pretty deeply depressed after a while.
My abdominal numbness gradually faded over about 7 months-- though the immediate scar area still feels a little different due to the scar tissue. I'd say every few weeks I'd regain about a half inch of feeling-- so it was measurable healing progress.
The first weeks post surgery I was very bloated in my abdominal region--& my first few weeks back at work I had to borrow pants from a friend a few sizes up from me, because even then my waist/abdominal swelling was too great for my regular pants. This bloating & numbness felt unpleasant: not painful, just odd.
I also remember that when I was well enough to stand up, it was still tough to do so for long periods--so I ended up putting a plastic stool in the shower--so I could sit and wash when I got too fatigued. Hair washing really took it out of me. The day I finally felt strong enough to remove the stool was a really happy moment!
Even now, I still experience what I refer to as phantom pain where my right ovary/Fallopian tube used to be. I now call that area my "ovoid" when I refer to it. Am surprised by amount of pain that ovoid generates with some periods--my left side never hurts. The ovoid occasionally needs pain killers: it's bizarre. 2 different gynocologists have found nothing-- thus my grudging acceptance of phantom pain.
All this is just to show that we heal differently & at different rates. I couldn't believe how slow to recover from this I was--I honestly was baffled & eventually very down about how LONG it took to "feel well." But every few weeks I could see & feel improvement, slow though it was. So hang in there!

I understand what you are going threw back in 2008 I was diagnosed with 2 cysts on both my ovaries the one on the left was as big as a grapefruit and the one on the right was as big as a cantelope so they took the right one out first and in 2010 they took out the left side. They also took out my limyphnodes from my stomach so I also had a cyserian cut so I to am numb in my lower abdomen and I get the same pain on both side where my ovaries where. I'm so scared that they are back. I'm only 36 years old with no kids and now can never have any. my mom had the same thing as me but she was 29 and was in and out of the hospital for a whole year and had 16 surgeries total and finally had a full hysterectomy at age 29. So at least my mom knows what I;m going threw but we both cant explain the pains now. ANYONE NOW'S WHY PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

I was 40 and had almost the same thing you did. It could be you have "phantom pain". I still have pain like my ovary is there but I know its not. It could also be scar tissue. I too am now having pain in the ovary that is left. I always think the lone ovary is mad it was left to do all the work! I'm going to see me doctor again. Are your periods regular?
As for the numbness-yes it takes a very long time to regain sensitivity. I am almost one year post op and can feel everything that was numb. Hang in there!!

Has anyone's doctor recommended any steps to avoid scar tissue? I had a 5.4cm dermoid tumor removed from my right ovary and a 1cm from my left. I would like to try to conceive as soon as possible but I am worried scar tissue will develop.
Also, has anyone's doctor recommended wearing binding around your abdomin so the internal organs fall back in place?
