Whenever I stretch or try bending my neck down (towards my knees) while stretching, it is painful and highly uncomfortable. (I am also not elderly.) I usually wind up having to look up while stretching, which limits my abilities and the usefulness of the stretch. Oddly enough, when I do this, I also experience discomfort around the backs of my knees. Do you have any ideas what the cause of this neck inflexibility and pain might be or how to go about improving it?

As far as I can tell, if you are having difficulty with your neck then it is probably due to a lack of stretching. Have you noticed a little more flexibility? If not, you do need to try stretching more. When I do the same thing, I feel a strain in my neck that does stretch to my knees so it sounds fairly normal. Does this help?
