Hi Karina, Sorry to hear you are having these issues now. Mine aren't so bad, still there, and think I have come accustomed to it some what. I don't suffer with it near as bad when going to bed now though, thank god, cause that was wrecking my head with concern just lying there more than anything. I am convinced the alcohol doesn't help me, whatever the scans show up. Maybe whatever it is, the alcohol just irritates it. Strangely as well though I upped my running over the last few months, and bang, was experiencing the discomfort more again. Saying that it was a stressful time in work to, going through redundancy procedure, and that meant a bit more drinking to. Went back to the docs, told them all this, and she said yes, cut out the alcohol. Did more bloods, and came back very low for Iron which explains the fatigue and dizzy spells. Waiting to hear back from the hospital to do some specific scans, not even sure what they are. It's amazing that in this day and age and after doing multiple blood tests and scans, noone can tell me what it is. I think whatever it is, stress must be a factor. When I read you say that, I thought yep. I never like to admit I am stressed, but I know I have been. I'm from Ireland and moved to London with the wife and two young kids 7 years ago. All not gone as planned on the wife front. Then stress leads to drink for me which obviously doesn't help. I'm not overweight and actually fairly fit with all the training. The running helps me destress, fresh air, on my own, great. I know I got so stressed a few years back, I almost gave myself a heart attack though. I got myself into a terrible state, and my heart felt like it was about to explode. The missus called the doctor and they sent an ambulance out. I felt my whole body shutting down. When the docs arrived, the very capable lady doc had me calmed down and breathing proper in 5 minutes, just talking to me. But the fact was and they agreed, I could of actually done myself real harm, even though a lot of it started out in the head and then escalated from there. They took me in that night and wired me up to all the fancy gizmo's you see on them soaps, beep beep beep etc, but all was good in the end. So its easy to say, try not to stress, but I know it is far from that easy, especially if you don't have people to talk to about stuff etc. I really do think the stress could be a huge part of all this though. I also lack the vitamin d, even though most of the uk probably does, mine was very very low, so as I said, got tabs for that, but guess I'll need it checked again soon. I become very sensitive to noise a lot, but then I started suffering from 'cluster headaches' a few years back, them are great craic :) , can go on for weeks, some people can have them for months on end, not nice at all, though I had a brain tumour the first time, felt like a golf ball in the side of my head ready to burst out. I sound a right wreck :) , but as I said, fingers crossed, think I'm fairly ok in general. Sorry I can't give you anything for concrete Karina, but you are defintely not the only one suffering with this, and you are doing the right think pestering your doctors. Keep getting checked over, at least that will give some piece of mind if they are all clear, and if they do find something, well its better than leaving it to. Give me a shout again anyway with how you are getting on, and I really hope things start to improve for you. You probably need a good holiday and general destress time, again, much easier said than done I know. James

I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME THING HAD ALL THE TEST TO NO AVAIL, I GET REALLY BAD ACID AS WELL

James, please keep us up-to-date on your test results. Some people posting here have similar, but different symptoms from what you have stated. My symptoms are dead on with yours. I just turned 30, and have always been fairly fit. I did used to binge drink more than I should in college and a year or two after. Lately though, I've been very healthy. This time last year I was running 6 miles 3 times a week. I'm 6'0" 174lbs. So, not overweight. For the past 3 years, I've only drank socially. Maybe one weekend a month. For the last 3 years, i've noticed the numb, dull, pain on my lower-right ribs, lower-right back, and between my lower ribs and hip. I've also had this weird heat sensitivity for about the same time. I get this painful tingly, sometimes hives from heat change, and sometimes when I get anxious or nervous. Not sure if it's related. But, I started getting tested when I noticed that. I don't know if they tested my liver enzymes when it first occurred though. 2 years later, the side discomfort became more noticeable. I don't drink much anymore, but I had a few drinks one day for a work function, and the next day the pain toward my lower back was MUCH worse. It went away, and I completely stopped drinking for about 7 months. I got tested again: Hida scan, Cat scan, ultra sound, blood work, etc.. All came back normal, but I had a low-normal on my hida scan (39% , 35% and above is normal) and somewhat low platelets.. I believe 170,000 (not positive on that). Liver enzymes were tested twice and came back with normal ranges. Then, a few weeks ago, on my birthday, someone bought me a drink - I took it to be polite, and BAM... the pain is back and more consistent again. This time, it has lasted for more than a month. If it's bothering me another week, I'll probably ask to see GI specialist. I do notice when the flare ups are at their worst, expelling gas and bowel movements seems to relieve it for a short while. I'm still worried It may be my liver, even though I've never been an every-day drinker, never been chemically dependent, or an alcoholic in the true sense of the definition. But, everyone's body is different, and what might be a little for someone else may be enough to do serious damage to another. Keep me posted with your test, james. I believe you're further along in the process than me. I hate that many people in these forums always have questions, but never follow up with their findings or even lack of findings. I will also try to keep everyone up-to-date.

All the same symptoms and almost died this summer. I am 33 years old. They took my gallbladder out after they hospitalized me, told me nothing was wrong after three cat scans WITH the dye, then sent me home saying my ADHD meds are causing a drop in blood pressure. No more ADHD meds, still low blood pressure. Lots of pain which means my blood pressure should be high but it's not. White blood cells go up and down. Sometimes up for long periods. Same golf ball feeling than unbelievable pain. They had also done an altar sound and checked for gallstones. Nothing. Went home, called mom and family told them I was dying. Mom is a retired doctor. I told her my symptoms. She called me back an hour later and told me to get to the hospital now and get a hyda

scan. So I called up my doctor and had to fib for them to take me in. I told them someone ordered on re for me but I had to wait a month and could they get me in sooner. If I hadn't done that, I'd be dead. My gallbladder was at nine percent. After surgery, the burning went away But the weird under the ribs and around to the back did not. I have a mild scoliosis of 10 degrees. i had a bad vote an D deficiency. My doctor has put me through the works. I am digesting very slow and it's very painful. I can feel the process move and it hurts. I constantly have either diareah or constipation. Never or rarely normal. I have been on anti spasm meds, stomach coating meds, Prilosec, gabapentin because I have a weird paralysis on the sides of both legs that never goes away now. They found pre diabetes. Went to a neurologist who said I didn't have neuropathy but if I don't take the gabapentin it gets worse. That weird paralysis is spreading to other places including my intestines. Memory is worsening, sometimes sudden on sets of confusion. They can't figure it out. Whatever it is is slowly killing me. I had an up and down GI done. They founds cancerous polypse but very few and all were removed. Did not spread to other areas. Also found severe damage to esophagus and stomach as well as a hiatal hernia. No change in health after polyps e removed. Switched to an organic diet. Experiencing some relief, not much. Am on a non GMO diet, no dairy, no wheat and avoiding foods high in fat. I am already a vegetarian. Have a history of chronic pericarditis due to too many treatments for asthma with prednisone. Had to be put on gout medicine for a year to correct it. Mild damage to my heart. I eat small handfuls of food at a time. No meals because it hurts too much. Unexplained weight gain. Please, please help me.

Taking nurotin as well. I do like it thou for my neck and back injury. Have had 4 surgeries due to a fractured neck and back. I have DDD. Well good luck with your ribs. You may not even see this. I am male but have the numbness, not unlike my fort going to sleep. I also have waves of pain throughout the day. I am pretty convinced it is a rib pinching a nerve in its new position. Mine is 4 days now. I got some relief from a pillow under my left ribs behind me and just be patient till your body relaxes and lets it move back. Our bodies in spasm frequently won't allow a correction. Worth checking with your chiropractor if you haven't already. I'll check in if mine gets better.

Ugh I have a very similar issue. I have a tightness on the left side just under the ribs that turns into a numbness after a few minutes, its the worse when I'm sitting down. Theres no burning or pain associated with it but there is an uncomfortable pressure. I noticed I also have a pain in my back thats on the complete opposite side of the front rib pressure, guessing they're some how related. I'm an amateur bodybuilding and have gained about 30lbs recently due to an injury hoping thats the cause. Perhaps nerve damage?

Since day one, when a doc diagnosed me with Fibro, I knew they were not willing to look at the REAL source of your pain/etc... I've seen a ton of doctors at a reputable hospital and a lot believe Fibro is not a diagnosis, but a symptom. If you have a doc who 'diagnoses' you with Fibro and looks no further...run to the next doc. The ones who diagnose Fibro are the ones who don't know or care to take time to find the real reason. Fibro is basically a way to 'shut a patient up and give them drugs'. Quoted by a few docs I've seen and/or talked to.

I'm sorry this scared you but remember, your liver is on the right side. Sorry you had to go through the same thing most of us go through. I'm glad that you found something that works for you, but what works for some will not work for others. Everyone's body responds to a multitude of things in different ways.

I've had the same problem for many years. I've had every test you can imagine. My doctor sent me to a specialist in Houston. He suggests it could be my sphincter. He wants to do surgery but it is too high risk. But I've been reading about it & this could very well be the culprit for many of us suffering. Look it up. Sphincter of Oddi I think. Or something like that.
