I watched something on tv about a bad taste in the mouth with head pain. You could have a tiny hole in your spinal cord that is leaking into your throat and it will leak out your nose too. I believe the doctors did a pressure test of the persons spinal fluid and they had to do surgery to correct the hole. Good luck

For the past 3 years I have been suffering with a strange pain on the left side of my head. It first started out as a tingling at the top which got worse. I went to a neurologist who recommended a nerve block. I took two of those injections at the base of the neck just behind the left ear, however that did not help. I did an MRI and the results were assymmetric ventricular vein (left vein measured 5mm while right 13mm)which was said to be a birth defect and a swollen espenoidal sinus. I was prescribed flixonase which did no good. The pain just worsens. The side feels inflammed and swollen. Whenever i apply pressure to it with my fingers pain shots down to my neck and ear which also feels blocked. Sometimes a sharp pain shots through my neck where i was injected and down my left arm. I extracted a wisdom tooth which I thought was causing the pain since biting hard foods caused pain but it was no help. The other jaw teeth are decayed and biting down hard on them now causes them to pain but its isolated in the jaw. My head pulsates and burns and is worsened with lack of sleep or long hours infront a computer. My jaw feels sore as well and feels tight on opening and closing. Sometimes a bad tasting fluid comes down the back of my throat from my left nostril. I get nauseous and depressed and i forget things very easily. I also find it difficult to concentrate due to the severity of the pain at times. When i move my eyes i feel a sorta bubbling or tearing at the back. The left nostril get blocked. A spot on the left side of my spine hurts at times and it feels linked to the pain in my head but i cant be sure. Sometimes breathing in srongly cause a burning sensation at the back of my head as if a nerve is exposed. please what can this be.

I am a Massage Therapist, while I worked for a Chiropractor we had a patient that continually came into be adjusted that had this same pain shooting along the side of his head. He too went in for all the testing and everything came back normal, yet this pain was debilitating. He thought it was a molar or wisdom teeth as some of you have mentioned, but no mater how many times he was adjusted at the Doctors office this excruciating pain never ceased. Although it was my responsibility to do as I was instructed by the Doctor, it was also my responsibility as a Massage Therapist to use the knowledge that I had to help relieve the pain of my client. One of my favorite subjects was Pathology, and I remembered studying  a certain disease called Trigeminal Neuralgia. This is when three nerves that run along the side of your head, coming close to the ear and almost to the jaw area, these three (tri) nerves split off one off from one nerve yet they do remain close to one another. When someone happens to experience a serious amount of stress, have a car accident or even take on more than they can realistically handle, these three nerves can begin to tremble or vibrate. Nerves can be like jumper cables when hooked to a battery they will shock you or send volts of electricity through out your body. When these nerves begin to tremor if they touch one another, they will have the same effect, and send this excruciating pain through out the side of your head into your jaw and even face. Many Dentists will give root canals to their patients only to find that the pain is still there. It is only through certain medications that Trigeminal Neuralgia can be treated. I decided to mention to my client that maybe he should see a neurologist to get another opinion and he did, the next time he came into see me, he told me that the Neurologist was treating him for Trigeminal Neuralgia and that he was 80% better on the medication. He took the medication for some time and then was eventually taken off of it. If you have tried every thing and you are still having this pain along the side of your head, I would strongly suggest seeing a Neurologist and ask him to test the Trigeminal nerves. Good Luck.

I have experienced similar pains that  come and go on the left side of my head or shooting pain sensations in my extremities.  I would suggest seeing a chiropractor.  You may not realize how much is affected if  your back is just slightly out of alignment.  At first I would never have thought getting adjusted would relate to the kind of pains I was experiencing but it did.  Hope this helps!!!

Lyrica and Neurotin and others help. On the right side of my head, it is almost always swollen. It starts as if small muscles are tightened from the bottom of my neck almost to the crown of my head. When severe I get migraine symptoms anting to squint and wear sun glasses.

What helps me has been reviewed w a psychiatrist. Over the counter items in descending effectiveness for me are:

Acetyl L Carnitnine wakes up my brain it seems. All the tension and swelling go away. However after frequent use effectiveness declines; so I go without for a few days, or just use it once a day rather than 3 or 4.

Caffeine or similar. It is in Excedrin.

Gabapentin the generic Neurptin.

Aleve and its clones, naproxen.

5-HTP to affect thyrotrophin.

Each of us is likely to find our own combination of theses and others. Go without; is there a change in symptoms and severity.

I have a severe pain on the left side of my head as well, and some of what everyone here is going through, I've been experiencing. The pain on the left side of my head is behind my left ear and when I press on it with my fingers, the pain sends me through the roof. I've been having this pain for about a week and a half, and it is not getting better. It's getting worse. This pain feels like a badly pulled muscle but getting worse. As of yesterday morning, I have a very hard time opening my mouth just to eat and now I can't even lay my head all the way back on my pillow with this pain, again, sending me through the roof. I have tried icing it, using the heating pad, I've used moist heat, pain relievers such as Ibuprofen, tylenol, Advil, and nothing has even come close to getting rid of the pain. My friends told me to go into the ER to have it looked at. Any suggestions of what this pain could be, or is it a good idea to go into the ER to get it looked at?

So, I am 15 and I have had these pains and "pops" in my head for 8 months now. I don't have pains going through my body, but I sure do have them in my head. And it's always in one spot. This has also has been making me really confused and slows me down in school. I've been very, very forgetful also. My eye sight has been very off too. And im pretty sure it isn't stress because I have a wonerful life thats basically stress free. But for some weird reason I have been acting different and depressed. So umm, i kinda wanna know what the heck is goin on because its kinda freaking me out lol

You are listing the Symptoms of a concussion, ever bang your hand or get some kind of head truama at the beginning of this pain that never healed, this must be some type of severe cronic concussion to be lasting 3 years may require surgery if indeed it is a concussion the deppression is also a symptom.

I also had this problem about 10 years ago and eventually went to see a Chiropracter which spesializes in this treatment. I had 2 sets of injections by him and the pain disappeared for about 4 years, after which I went back for another set. It will stay away hopefully.
The doctor is situated in Pretoria.
Kind regards.
Ian.
