I had my gallbladder removed in April of this year and life has been pretty good. I've lost 20lbs since then(mainly through my low fat diet to prevent diarreah), and I started walking/running at the end of May. I noticed that when I would incorporate a little running into my walks my side would hurt where my gallbladder used to be.

As I used to be a regular 5mi/day runner I am familiar with the pain of a side-stitch and this is definitely not the same thing. It only happens in the same place and it happens when I run.

I just want to know if this is unusual or normal? I'd like to get back into running but it's just not possible now. Thank you for any help.

i too had my gall bladder out in april. all was going well until about 2 months ago when i was constantly tired and had headaches. im slowly getting over that, but now im also getting pain in the side of my stomach. i have had this pain for 1 month now and the doctor says there is nothing wrong with me. i had an ultra sound and that detected nothing wrong also. does anyone else have this similar pain to what we are experiencing?

I am having the same thing..pain only when I run at the site where my gallbladder used to be. Never when I walk, use the eliptical or lift weights. My surgeon says that it should not have anything to do wtih the surgical site. Interesting that there is someone else with the same thing. Curious if anyone as any idea as to the why. My mom, nurse of almost 25 years, thinks it is just something I may always have...kinda bummed at that thought, cause after losing 60 lbs, I REALLY would like to run in a race someday!

Wow! It's gotten a little better, but I still can't run like I used to which was a real problem when I was trying to train for a 5k. It was just too uncomfortable so I decided that powerwalking (even though I look like such a goober!) was the only alternative. You're right, no pain unless running. Nuts huh?

Gallbladder clips were left in me from my surgery, it was discovered on a CT scan. Doctors don't seem concerned. There are occasional spasms in that area particularly when I am active, and apparently it is because of the clips.

The clips are left in all patients. They clamp off the bile duct that was connected to the gallbladder. They are made of titanium and should not cause any problems.
