my 6 year old daughter is having red & hurting finger tips and wants to wet them by licking or washing them as it makes her fell better and this is happening for last few weeks, pl help if someone has any idea what this could be.

You need to keep watch on your 6 year old to find out how and where she hurt her fingers. Children her age have a tendency to put their hands where they don't belong. A security camera would be a good way to keep watch when you are not home.

How long has she been having this problem with her finger tips? In some cases the redness is usually caused by some sort of an infection in the body. To be honest I never heard that this can be just located and the finger tips and that there are no swelling or redness on other parts of the body. In most cases you would notice the redness on fist or whole arm. Have you tried to use some cortisone creams to ease the swelling and irritation? Try to avoid dirty places. This could be some allergic reaction also. Do you know if she has some sort of allergies? I hope this helped you a bit.
