im so happy im not alone in feeling these symptoms! its so scary :( ive been having them for just over a year now, the first few i was SURE i was having a heart attack! i was palmed off from a&e as theyd eased off by the time i got there, my gp first said it was anxiety, then eptopics. i am now under a cardiologist and under going tests, i just hope they can help me out with this. it controls my life, i cant excercise as it sets me off, if i leave the house i worry how far away i am from a hospital just in case :( i have trouble sleeping, and have to sleep sat upright in bed every night. even down to playing with my children for too long can bring on an 'episode'. its really getting me down at the minute as ive seen doc after doc, my bloods, BP etc always come back as normal so i have docs stumped at the min. i even looked into aspartame poisoning to see if that could help! sadly, no! did anyone get a diagnosis on here yet?

I too have these symptoms. I was told by my family doctor that they were panic attacks and was put on anxiety medications. I went back and did a holter monitor and had an EKG. They all came back fine. My symptoms persisted and I contacted a cardiologist who did an echocardiogram and I have a prolapsed mitral valve with regurgitation. I take a beta blocker daily for palpitations and go in yearly for echoes. Don't give up and keep seeking answers, it just takes finding the right doctor who will listen and help you find answers.

It would help to know your age and if you have any underlying medical conditions. If you are young, under mid 30's with no underlying disease I'd say anxiety or panic attack. All of the symptoms you describe are common during an anxiety attack.

I had all thise symptoms. After 6 months of ER visits, every test under the sun and specialists, an allergist finally figured it out. Patadoxical Vocal Cord Disorder. It mimic cardiac illnesses. Most cardiologists dont even know what it is. Google it. Get it diagnosed - a vocal cord specialist. Once i was diagnosed i was treated for reflux (which makes it worse) with aloe gel (yes you can drink the stuff) and 4 or 5 months of vocal cord therapy. All good now. When i feel short of breath or chest compression i just do my breathing and its fine. Good luck.

This happens to me as well. I have also been to the emergency room and they found nothing. I may have sleep apnea which is what wakes me out of a sound sleep but the rest of it is a panic attack. Need to re evaluate what is going on in your life right now that may be causing this to happen...

I'm a 44 year old male and I've been on this journey for 5 months now.  5 months ago I ended up in the emergency room twice with racing heart, numbness in my arms, chest pain and thinking I was going to die.  The next week I could barely get through the day without having to take multiple naps during the day because of the extreme fatigue.  I had cronic burping, which was most likely reflux, and had to have a bowel movement when an attack came on.  All my tests came back fine, no heart problems. Even had a hear monitor for two weeks, no problems.  All blood work came back fine except a little high on the blood sugar.

This was all preceded by over three years of stress of a very stressfull life.  This stress was from our now 3 year old son who born with a rare medical condition where he was in the hospital much of his first life and continued care by the parents at home.  When he got more manageable, my newborn daughter came along.  I've always had so much energy, very althletic and never had any stress related problems in the past.  After all my doctors and research and going down many rabbit trails I believe I finally found the problem.

Most medical doctors don't accept this but its adrenal fatigue.  Your adrenals sit on top of your kidneys and get worn down from too much stress over periods of time and all of us have different ability to handle stress.  Stress can come from work, kids, diet, etc.  Your adrenals control a lot of your hormones throughout your body.  When they get wacked out other areas of your body get wacked out.  For me the racing heart is from the cortisol regulation not working properly.  My burping and chest pain are from the hormones not working correctly to digest food in my stomach and they also mess with your sugar requlation.  The worst part is the anxiety and sense of doom is the hardest part which comes from the messed up hormones.

In 5 months my crashes get less and less, but still happen. I feel I'm about 80% of what my prior energy before I had these problems.   You must change your diet.  No coffee, sugar, or refined foods. Eat healthy multiple meals throught the day to requlate sugar levels.  Have to find if your food intolerant to anything.  Good idea to stay away from wheat until you get better.  You have to find outlets for yourself. Light exercise, running puts me into a crash.   They say yoga and meditation are good but I don't do either.  Golf and Church work for me.  Must try to get 8 hours of sleep which is difficult because you tend want to wake up in the middle of the night.  Good quality supplements, Ester C works wonders. Find a doctor who can help you in this area and give you adrenal and GI test and direct you to correct and amount of supplements.  I found mine on the The Institute for Functional Medicine website, go to look for a practitioner in your area on the website.

I really hope this helps, I really thought I was gonna die.  Its hard because I was surviving on tons of coffee and sugar to get me through those stressful days.  Now I eat really healthy and its not really hard to say no to junk food and goodies after 3 months you taste buds change and you start to like healthy food (its ok to fudge once in awhile).  It really comes down to self denial.  Listen to your body!!!! It's telling you it needs help like nutrition, sleep, relaxation.  God Bless

You sound almost exactly like me! I'm 22 now but I've been having these symptoms since I was about 14, no one took me seriously when I told them I'd literally go black for a second when I was having an "attack," would get a light coating of sweat on my arms, feel light headed, dizzy, nauseous, and weak. Since the episodes only lasted for a minute or so and I'd feel better soon afterwards, my regular doctor told me that girls my age often black out from dehydration so I should drink more water. Up until about 18 I'd only have an attack about once every six months or so, so I kind of put it out of my mind and figured I was healthy enough not to worry. Throughout my later college years was when things started getting bad, the attacks were more frequent and would keep me up at night with a racing, irregular heartbeat, I'd always feel like I'd stop breathing if I fell asleep so you can imagine how draining it was. Now I'm out of school and trying my best to work a full-time job while dealing with the constant pain, sometimes I have bad days and can't go into work after throwing up all morning or having another sleepless night. I've been seeing a cardiologist for the past six months, so far I've worn two heart monitors and had an echocardiogram; they've even tested my blood to see if anything was wrong there. We're not sure yet what's causing these issues but my doctor THINKS it's an arrhythmia triggered by the nerves in my heart, not a valve malformation. I drink almost no caffeine but nothing I do diet-wise seems to help, if anyone has any tips for dealing with this I'd appreciate hearing them. If this isn't something that can be fixed I just want to be able to live my life as normally as possible and be able to perform better at my job. It's frustrating to be a young woman and deal with a heart problem- so please, if you are experiencing the same thing and haven't seen a doctor yet, make it your priority to go! Don't let anyone tell you that you're exaggerating or over-dramatic, insist on getting tested. I wish we'd caught this years ago because maybe we could have done something about it before I was out in the real world trying to juggle work and adult life.

What was the outcome of your tests?

Ask your doctor to do a tilt table test on you. I've had all of this with test after test. I have never fainted in my life but close. However, this test caused me to have all the symptoms that I was having but worse and this caused me to faint. They have diagnosed me with ( dysautonomia ) that affects the cardio neurogenic syncope. It's a nervous system disorder which is brought on by a lot of different issues and stress is one of them. I have to take a heart rate reducer meds to control mine for now. If the medication stops working then I may have to get a pace maker. I have also been diagnosed with an under active thyroid problem a year after the dysautonomia diagnoses. I hope this helps you all. My symptoms were after driving for 40 minutes and then standing for a while I would get really nauseated, very weak and palpitations . I would sit down or lie down with legs raised for 15-20 minutes and symptoms would go away. If I was unable to sit down, I would get really nervous feeling and felt like I was sweating and almost faint. My blood pressure was dropping to fast and heart rate goes up high. Salt will bring your blood pressure back up and you will feel better soon. Again I hope this helps you all.
