I have a really weird problem, I'm not real sure if it'd be considered an eating Disorder of a such, or maybe OCD. I am actually scared of getting food poisoning. I used to sit up for the exact amount of time it takes for food poisoning to start kicking in and see if I was ok. I got so bad I wouldn't eat anything that wasn't pre-packaged, suck as a bag of chips, or a pack of crackers. I lost a lot of weight because of it. I almost think it's OCD, because I find myself asking people when they are sick if what they have is contagous, and certian questions about how they feel so I'll know if I get it. I lysol and spot clean my house and my car if I've been around anyone who is sick or says they don't feel good, then take a shower. I've never talked to anyone about it, because I know people will think I'm nuts! Any advice?
Have you spoken to a therapist or doctor about this. This is what I would recommend. Between talking to one and maybe meds you would get great help

I did the same thing. I lost a ton of weight because I was so afraid to eat anything. I went to a therapist and was diagnosed with OCD.
I had suffered with it untreated for 10 years. Lysol was my best friend. I rinsed soap off my face with it, cleaned my eyes and ears with it. I even went so far as to spray Lysol in my mouth and throat when I thought I got something in there that would cause me to be sick.
I have since been able, without medication, to start eating again - enough to gain 20 lbs back, but now I worry after years of using Lysol so inappropriately that I have or will get cancer, especially throat cancer. Anyone know if this has happened or is probable??
