This affected pain is probably the most mis-diagnosed symptom I have seen on the internet. When your urine is abnormally acidic for a prolonged period of time, your urinary tract and tip of your penis (the most sensitive to pain) become irritated. The most effective cure is the most simple: Alkalanize your diet. Learn which foods are acid forming and which are not. In a few days of conscious eating, the irritation will go away. Some people have naturally higher occurring acidity in their waste. These people should be exceptionally conscious of their diet.

What I do:
Replace coffee consumption with herbal tea three times a day. That's all it takes for me.

mine first started with extreme burns in the of my penis (urethra) like 5 days after i had sex - but it was protected. i was diagnosed with UTI klebsiella and was put on a host of antibiotics. i later had 2 swollen glands (groin) but that also dissapeared, i had pelvic pain too which seemed to also clear up once i took antibiotics.no discharge or pain while urinating. the pain comes up and subsides itself until it comes up again.i went for another urine mcs but the klebsiella was gone.the burn though not as extreme and painful as it was at first( it was horrible) i still feel it now generally and after urinating or ejaculating at the urethra tip - there is no swelling or redness just a painful burn there. its driving me crazy, am about going for a cystoscopy.

My teenage son had burning when urinating that he yelled in pain so took to DR. and all test neg including std. put on antibiotics anyway but this did nothing for pain. I ask Dr. if he could take Uristat as this is a pain reliever women use for same problem. Dr. said both Men and Women can take. Guess what gave it to him and 3 or 4 hours later pain free. (thanks Dr. for not mentioning four days ago) Anyway this is over the counter for a couple bucks and this will make you pee bright orange for a day but you should be pain free. Thinking about my son not wanting to urinate or not urinating all the way because pain was so intense all it was doing was holding bacteria in longer. Hope this is useful to someone else.

Man this sucks, I have had this problem since November after I had unprotected sex.
I got tested for Chlamydia and Ghonorrea- Test came back Negative
I also got tested for a Urinal infection- Test also came back Negative

I have had no Sores, no discharge or anything.

Only pain sometimes... Pulsating pain on my penis... take a piss, and that also burns.

Will it ever go away?

It seems to be some time of STI, that no one has truly diagnosed.  I mean come on, everyone on here has it, and it mostly started after sex, and all tests for almost everyone... come back negative.

Are there any drugs I can take to rid me of the problem?

Thanks,

I've never had sex, and I suddenly got this pain just two days ago.  It's still here even now.
The inside of the tip of my penis burns after urination, and it continues to sting for about 30 minutes afterwards.
It then calms down, and I would forget about it.
But it comes back every time I urinate again.

Here's something interesting though:  It started happening directly after a masturbation session.  This session was in the shower, and soap was involved.

The only thing I could assume this can possibly be in my case is:
1) Urethra was damaged, and constant urination keeps the wound fresh.
2) Some soap/shampoo entered the urethra, and caused a burning result.

With the constant trend of STDs not being the issue, I don't feel the need to be tested, let alone the fact that I've never had sex, or anything close to it in years.
My 1) answer seems like a reasonable explanation to this.  Only solution to something like that is to not urinate for a long period of time.  At least a few days.  And things might be looking better..
I know it sounds absurd, but that might be what's needed..  I'm going to do what I can for the next 24 hours.  I'll be back with the results after my next urination.

I just had it and it freaked me out o.o I think it comes if you dont drink enough/eat things that contain A LOT of sugar...
I just ate some sweets and went to the toilet then so I guess its sugar maybe that makes the urine "dirty" an it burns if theres some left.

Thank you to Truthseekers with the Neosporin in the tip of the urethra idea.

You have answered my prayers and I finally had a "normal" day today!!!

My symptoms were very similar to many on this site. Tip of penis felt like I had to pee, usually for 45 minutes after going. Would use the restroom again and nothing would come out. Went to an Urgent Care place on a Sunday, one week after it started. Thought I had a tract infection. Urine came back clear, no need for STD test as wife not experiencing anything. No symptoms like discharge or anything. A few days later, I decided to have a Chiropractor straighten my back thinking it was a pinched nerve. Some relief, but not all gone. A few days later I had a Urology appointment. Pain came back even worse, but urine tests were perfectly clear. Doctors gave me a speech on caffine and what I eat, but I fond that hard to believe since I haven't really changed my diet in years and 2 cups of coffee in the morning shouldn't cause it. I also only have one pop a day.... maybe.

So I read this post and decided to try it. I was at my wits end with this and it got to the point I could not live a normal life or act normal at work.

I used the regular Neosporin the first day and the relief was good, but still there. The next day, I tried the Neosporin with Pain Relief and had to pee it out immediately as something in that made the it "burn like hell"! Went back to regular ointment and this morning, I had no pain to just a hint of pain. I have been using it after every time I urinate. The day has been getting better and better!!!

Applying the ointment was weird to say the least, but if you are like me, I was at my wits end with this pain, I applied a little dab to the end and rub it around. Inserted the tip of the neosporin into the urethra about 1/4 to 1/2 inch and gave it a little squeeze. I would massage it in and pull the penis outward to remove some excess, but not enough to push it all out.

I limited my urination during the work hours so that I did not have to re-apply at work. Then, when I get home, I would drink tons of water and flush the system.

So far so good! I'm so excited to feel normal again. Not sure what caused this problem. I had been fairly stressed out up to the point of pain with work and life, but this added more stress to the top of it.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I think you are right! I was a massage therapist so I know some stuff concerning the muscles. I have the same problem as what has been described here. Had them start after a kidney stone, I also had a prostate infection and got majorly dosed with antibiotics but still have problems from it. It basically took thirty percent of my everything away. It sucks! but anyway I find when I get that burn I usually feel a tightning. Even being constipated can aggrivate your prostate. So what I do is sit on the edge of the couch sitting mid butt on the edge and rock back and forth massaging my glutes and you can also feel it pull other muscles on the inside. It usually does the trick, sometimes takes longer but it works. My ass is always really tight but when I feel it tightning due to stress the burn seems to appear. Massage of the ass muscles and pelvic area should help people with this problem, unless you are STD possitive then thats a bummer.

If it's not std, it is possible that there's a blockage of some sort in the urethra of your penis. This could be why you're feeling pain after urination. Calcium buildup can cause these blockages so I suggest you to go see a doctor and take MRI. Another possiblity is damaged arteries, veins, capillaries, or nerves in the penis so keep that in mind as well. Goodluck!

It may also be attributed to Non-Gonococcal Urethritis. I had this a couple years ago from unprotected sex. But it is also caused by other factors.

My Doctor prescribed me Azithromycin to treat Non Specific Urethritis. It did nothing. I have the same symptoms as other guys on here. Burning in the head of the penis after urination and ejaculation. Constant discomfort in the penis head and sometimes the urethra. Sometimes it feels like it is leaking or dripping but when I look at it there is no swelling or redness or discharge. All my STD screenings have come back negative as well as a urine test for UTI. This all started 6 weeks ago after unprotected oral sex. The symptoms started right away. They have progressively gotten worse as has my anxiety and stress levels. I think this problem has a lot to do with stress, anxiety and depression. I've had this problem before but it always went away especially when I stopped thinking about it. This time its not going away and I don't know what to do.

So as of right now I'm depressed, anxious, and miserable. This is a complete nightmare and is going to drive me crazy.

I guess my next step will be to see a Therapist and start dealing with some of my issues which I have put off for so long.

Does anyone know if there is a support group for guys that have this problem?
