i have most likely started my period today, and it was due tomorrow on the 13th. but whats the difference between that and implantation? some say its supposed to be like a brown color and some say its red like a regular period. i have been having cramps for the past two days. i have taken 2 pregnancy tests and they came back negative. i have read on one article that someone had implantation the day before or on the day she started her period. im just a bit confused. any advice? ? 8-|

Hi Panda,

Implantation bleeding would normally occur about a week or so BEFORE your period.  It would be very unlikely to happen the day before.

It is very light, no pad needed.  Yes, it can be brown but it can also be red.  The color indicates how "old" the bleed was.  Fresh blood would be red and older would be brown.  It's normal.

You can have cramping before your period.  Lots of women do.

Give it some time to tell if it is your normal period.

Hope it helps.

A couple of days or so. It can vary in women.

Remember, it truly is little "spots" of blood, red or brown.
