I have the tingling and numbness too, but it is in the side of my neck and shoulder and goes to my chest. It comes on like a contraction and gets tighter and tighter. Then goes. I've mentioned to my neurosurgeon and orthopedic surgeon and they have both said its nothing to worry about. I believe it's coming from the arthritis in my neck and there must be a nerve getting squashed or similar. It is constant all day, no matter what I'm doing. I do take meds and sometimes drink alcohol tho. Also my liver isn't great. So maybe there is some common factors between some of us. Thanks everyone

For the people with discoloration, severe pain, large areas of tingling or moles, please visit your GP soon! I think the majority of people here are talking about something different.

I notice the tingling when my when my nervous system is at a heightened state of alert. It's a good indication that I'm upset by something.

A chiropractor told me my right side is slightly shorter than my left, (I have a bunion on my left foot and I used to place more weight on my right foot to avoid pain) and she told me that my right back muscles are pushing my spine to the left a little at that spot. She did say that it's self-repairable but it will take time and effort - more investigation needed.

For immediate relief, I extract myself from whatever situation I'm in and I use the Dalai Lama's breathing technique for stress/anger relief - seriously, it works and it takes about 15 seconds! There's a video somewhere. Wim Hoff's Method for instant stress relief works but that's a bit more in-depth.

I've also been told a meditation practice important - to reteach the mind and body. I really think this is rooted in my nervous system being out of whack, due to various traumas

I've gotten the same thing for almost a year now. My itch spot is just to the left of my right shoulder blade between it and the spine. It's doesn't itch often but when it does it's very itchy. It's worse after a shower. I also get tingling in the area once in a while. It comes and goes months at a time. The doctor told me it's probably NP even though I'm only 27. I do lift weights often so I'm sure that's has something to do with it. Also i notice the tingling sometimes when I have bad posture while sitting which leads me to believe it's some sort of nerve. It's more of an annoyance than anything and I'm sure my wife is annoyed of itching my back most nights.

Did you ever find out what it was? I’m having the same issue

I have been having the same on/off tingling sensation, left side of my back directly under shoulder blade. I noticed it occurs when my head, neck and back are not held in a proper upright position for a little bit. For example when I am sitting on my couch hunched over slightly playing a video game or sitting at my computer or driving. Seems to be when I have my head positioned slightly forward and arms partially extended in front of me. Anyone that see this post, any suggestions other than sitting upright at all times? Is it a diet and exercise thing? If you have had this happen to you and found a way to treat it or, preferably, have been to a doctor and had it diagnosed, any information you could provide would be appreciated.

Exact same issue for a little over a year now...I can completely relate to the head moving slightly forward with arms partially extended aggravating the tingling sensation. I've been working on my posture and scheduling a somewhat monthly full body massage with 30 minutes focused specifically on the mid to upper back. Regular massage was recommended by primary care doctor due to feeling very tense muscles on the upper back. Massage therapist mentioned that the tingling is usually due to reduced blood flow. She recommended a foam roller between massages to work out the trigger points. A combination of massage therapy, daily stretching, and foam rolling has significantly improved my symptoms over the past couple of months, but they are not completely resolved yet. I hope this helps!

I have a tingling patch of skin like ants crawling around next to the right of my spine just below to the shoulder blade. It started when I was lifting things over my head. My chiropractor had a long name for it and said it was an irritated nerve in my spine. He massaged the area and adjusted my back to help relieve the pressure on the nerve. Which seemed to help. He said it should get better when the nerve calms down.
