Hi,
So my husband and I have been together since I was 17 so it has been 16 years. We have an 11 year old son. He has always been manipulative. For the past 7 years he has been a stay-at-home dad. He says it is because I started traveling for work, but the fact is that I only started traveling because we were broke and he couldn't keep a job. We just bought a house last month, meaning I just bought a house. His disabled father is also living with us. So I have 4 mouths to feed. I finally got a job working from home about 8 months ago. I work constantly to cover the bills. Yesterday I turned my car over to the finance company because I had to default on the loan. So now the only vehicle we have is in his name, and yes I am the one paying for it. About an hour after my car was picked up he started up on me. First it was just him grapping at me and poking me with his cane. The more I told him to stop the more aggressive he became. It resulted in an hour long session of him pinning me down in various choke and submissive holds. I am a realtively strong woman, but I can't get out from under a 300+ lb guy with martial arts training.
So here is why I am posting this. This is the first time he has ever been physically abusive. Afterwards he of course told me it was my fault and that I could've stopped it at any time. Because repeatedly telling him to stop and get off of me wasn't enough. I am the sole provider and I know him to be vindictive when it comes to his exes. What are my options here? If I divorce him, am I going to loose my house? What about my son? I have worked so hard to give him a good life and I finally was able to get him a home instead of jumping from rental to rental. I have anxiety issues and I just stopped Zoloft about 2 months ago, so I am also worried that my husband is going to try to say that I am unstable and use it against me in any divorce proceedings. I am also worried that I will have to pay him alimony.
Also it has been 13 hours since this happened. I don't have any surface bruising that I can see, but the entire left side of my head and neck are extremely tender as well as my ear and jaw from the headlock he had me in. What if any documentation would an ER visit give? I don't have alot of money so I don't want to end up with the $150 ER copay if it isn't going to do any good.
