I've been dealing with hives that have gotten progressively worse the past few years as well as recurrent headaches that seem sinus related and migraine-like. I realized about 6 months ago that my hive outbreaks were getting terrible the first couple of days of my period and I found an info that I think might explain my symptoms. Then I realized last month that the headaches come at the same time as my hive flare ups. I think it's all related. I had some blood work done a couple of months ago (negative for lupus) and my derm told me to take Claritin daily for a while. I did and the hives got much better. I haven't taken it recently, but the headache (and period) came yesterday and hives today. I find Claritin D and Advil to be the most helpful, especially if taken at onset of symptoms. I'm sorry we're all suffering, but glad to find others with this mysterious ailment.

My post was edited by moderator to remove a link. The information I linked was about autoimmune progesterone dermatitis. I believe this is the cause of my hives and related sinus inflammation/headaches. Next step for me is to figure out who can help me treat or prevent this reaction monthly.

Good, it's not "just me as the Dr makes it out to be. I wish there was a solution though.

Just wanted to suggest that the "hives" could also be a food sensitivity. I noticed that I was getting a red, blotchy, hot "rash" on my face, neck, ears, and chest after eating lunch and sometimes after drinking alcohol, and I'm pretty sure I have a small gluten sensitivity. I think my existing food sensitivities are even stronger during my period; if I eat certain foods, they'll cause more of a headache, sinus inflammation or skin reaction than any other time of the month. Just something I've noticed that may help you.

I'm so glad i am not the only one who feels this way. I'm a 42 year old woman who has had sinus pressure headaches for a week now, prior to my period starting. Drainage, earache, runny nose, but no congestion. The bridge of my nose hurts too. Pms has gotten worse as I've aged. The breast area under my armpit is tender too. After years of mammograms they are normal. I'm guessing hormones is causing this?

I took Mucinex to clear up a little my sinuses it worked with the symptoms, my period started as expected but it is not normal. I never have seen this heavy period. I didn’t use much Mucinex before so I can’t compare. Looked it up and there is no much on the web. Did you have such a problem.

I too have suffered for many years with the same symptoms!!!!! I am currently 38, I have tried many things, exercise, healthy eating(was on whole 30 diet, which helped but still ended up at doctor) vitamins, allergy Meds, lowering stress. But every month about a week before my period here comes the horrible monster of symptoms. I try to sleep but alas, wake up with horrible sinus pain and terrible phlegm draining down the back of my throat, neck pain, feverish, stomach ache such as upset stomach when eating. For years I believed it was constant sinus infection but no,its hormone related!!!! Please help! Has anyone tried Progesterone cream to regulate hormones? I was going to give it a try. Tried everything else. I use excedrin migraine combined with Allegra d and immitrex for migraine and get slight relief. But I don't want to have to medicate which gives other negative side effects. I can't live this way anymore! I'm glad I'm not alone and imagining it but wish there was better help. I limit exposure to metals, chemicals, plastics, eat Organic, don't touch sugar, chocolate, flour, no alcohol, smoking, etc. Use essential oils, vitamins, and exercise. Weight is kept normal(115). Drink lots of reverse osmosis water. Should I up vitamins and exercise? I'm at a loss any good advice would help.

I have these episodes and it is actually happening because of several factors. One being hormonal shift, the weather, etc. I tried taking nasal decongestion the one that is purchased behind the counter two days before my cycle and antihistamine. Since the pressure is triggered by the hormonal overload it reacts by releasing an overabundance of histamine.

This is the exact thing that happens with me
The only thing that stops my headaches are when I'm pregnant or when I had the mirena IUD cause it stops your cycle. Fortunately me and my husband are trying to conceive so I have to suffer until it happens but afterwards I'm going back on the IUD

I have really bad allergies and migraines but I've noticed the week before and during my last four periods I have had severe migraines and sinus pain. I kept thinking it was just a flare up in my allergies causing the migraines and sinus pain but now I'm not so sure. It's horrible and I haven't found anything that will give me some relief.
