I am coming to the end of my periods. At 53 I am still suffering with debilitating sinis headaches before and during my periods. It definitely has to do with hormones. Can't wait for the end. I feel for all the young women on here.

I’ve tried Syndol. I highly prefer Maxalt (1) because it doesn’t make you drowsy and (2) it totally removes the pain!

Wow I’m not alone! My issue started at age 21 (17 years ago!) after getting my wisdom teeth removed. I remember spitting pus, so I went back to the doctor (it was a few weeks after the surgery) so they gave me a round 2 of antibiotics. Then I got on two more rounds of antibiotics within a few months since I started expecting infections in my throat and then sinuses. At first I had severe scary and debilitating migraines all the time, for months... then it eventually settled into a monthly migraine cycle where for 3 days I’m down and unless I treat it with medication (Maxalt is the best!) I am vomiting and uncomfortable. The pressure is more often on the left temple and feels like a migraine/sinus infection. I’ve tried years of acupuncture and natural remedies. I think it’s a combo of PMS with chronic infection, possibly fungal. I also have found that I have gum and ear infections and lots of broken capillaries around my face from all the inflammation.

I hear you! I had the sugar addiction issue w you issue too. Cutting it out seems to help, as sugar causes inflammation and mucus congestion. Hope you feel better!

God bless Triptans! I wish we didn’t have to use them but they’re a game changer. I take Maxalt (Rizatriptan)

Thank you! I heard today from my functional medicine doctor that when we get infections (bacterial viral etc) they can get stuck in parts of our bodies, and come out with our cycles/certain times. The key is to patch up the leaks where the pockets of infection are, and kill the infection in the whole system. I’ll be redoing my wisdom teeth work, which caused these migraines and working with a functional medicine doctor. If you don’t clear out the infection and put a bandaid over it with pain killers. This info is little known to most!

I do the same thing, every month. I'm also very hormonal and my headaches worsen when I lay down but all I want to do is sleep or try to.

SAME THING FOR ME! I've been suffering the same pain for the past 8 years now and I'm 40. I have my period right now and I'm in bed because of the major sinus pain. They seem to come a week before my periods every month however, like you, the pain can come other times as well. Very random! I've seen all the specialist imaginable including 2 ENTs with no luck! I even had sinus surgery and a week later the sinus pain came back.

Hot shower give a few minutes of relief! I want to take something but I cant take a decongestant because I have high blood pressure! I may try excedrin migraine!

I am having similar symptoms. I haven't found relief. Talked about it with my Dr. who doesn't believe it is hormone related. I have begun tracking sinus and headache days on a calendar

I'm 49 and so miserable that I'm finally getting a hysterectomy (I HOPE that this will be what finally works)... taking the ovaries too (to get rid of mid-cycle pain AND remove the possibility of ovarian cancer AND try to get my hormone levels to a better balance through regular/stable medications). I've never done well on the pill. And, I'm not one to go straight to medications but with terrible periods my whole life, multiple miscarriages (no births but wonderful step-children so I eventually gave up), and absolutely HORRIBLE sinus problems usually 1-2 days prior and up until I start... to be point where I just can't concentrate and often have to lay down with a sinus / cold compress. I've just been miserable for YEARS. It's amazing to find so many people with the same issues. I'm sorry for all of your as I know what this feels like. I do sinus rinses (they do help) and I do take ibuprofen (and that often helps) but I've never found the combination that cures this c**p. If my surgery (in two days) works... I'll come back and let you know. Fingers crossed.

Be careful with the tiger balm.i overused it and develop a topical allergy against mint. Even for the toothpaste!
