Thank you...every day gets better! I have gone through a giant size bag of Epsom salts ! It definitely is a matter of finding balance...with everything...diet (definitely watch what you eat), Milk of Magnesia...which I have adjusted to 1 TBLP at night before bed...after having bm I too shower to cleanse and then immediately sit in fairly warm tub of water...I also take 2 additional warm baths during the day with the last one at nite before bed...finally off the Hydrocodone...using Advil if necessary which does help with inflammation. I'm still worried about the "new little patch of hemorrhoids" and hope they are what you think they may be...they weren't there before or after surgery...it was a total different one before. I see Dr. on Wednesday and keeping fingers crossed. To those of you planning on surgery...it's definitely not an overnight process so be patient and know everyday gets better...I really don't think the surgeons explain aftercare very well and leave you to figure things out on your own...

I'm hoping too...it's really uncomfortable today with burning and a bit of pressure...I've been really careful with diet and no straining, etc, etc. Can't wait until my Dr's appt. I'm going to continue with the 1 TB of of MOM before bedtime and also the warm baths with Epsom salt at least twice a day and definitely after using the bathroom..... and hope for the best...I hope he tells me this is all normal course of recovery..I'm just bummed because I didn't have pain or bleeding before surgery...just an awful issue of personal hygiene. I'm really trying to practice positive thinking and am going to try to stay off my feet as much as possible until dr. visit. I will check back in after my dr. appt...hope you are doing well...when is your first follow up visit?

My appt. isn't until Sept.26. Today has been better. I am finally getting my appetite back more and feeling better. Think I'm feeling better coming off the pain pills. I am only taking a half when needed along with advil. Still have not left the bed much though. I think rest is the best thing for our bodies right now. My bm seem more regular with hardly no bleeding. Still swelling down there but pain is definitely better.

I know doctors are different and you may been given different after surgery care...but I was told not to put Epsom salt in my baths b/c it could cause burning. & I only took MOM on the 3 day after not going....to only use if constipated. So I only had to use once,,,and thank goodness I went like 6 times after that. My instructions were just Metamucil once daily and 2 stool softners daily. So far so good. I know every case is different just wondering if maybe too much Epsom salt or MOM?? If you were told to do that stick to that though.
Please do update...curious to what the doctor says about swelling and etc. I am going to call the dr office next week to see if this swelling sounds normal. Hoping a good day for you tomorrow.

Our post op advise definitely is different...And this is definitely a great way to lose weight so it's good you are eating again...I watch everything I eat and wonder how it is going to affect me later! The Dr.was pretty adamant about the MOM and no stool softener. I am trying to introduce my own natural fiber...and eating 1-2 small organic prunes and plan to continue that. When I had my colonoscopy the Doc who did that said I needed to step up my fiber intake so I am working on that too. Plus, lots of water...which has always been a challenge to me but doing much better the last 3-4 months. I'm wondering if I was up and moving around too soon and that caused the new hemorrhoids, if that's what they turn out to be. I haven't been able to lay around too much...mostly because its not in my nature...I will post to you again after my appt. on Thurs. afternoon...I am sure hoping he gives me some hope and not a new problem...I just want to feel good and get on with life...I know you must feel the same... it has been an extremely long week... Thanks so much for the chat and sharing the same boat we are both in!

The water has been a challenge for me too. I can tell it helps though. I can't believe I have been 9 days with no caffeine! I feel the same way..ready to go on with life, hopefully with no hemorrhoids. That would just be wonderful to not worry about this anymore. I am normally a very active person and cannot wait to be again. Look forward to see what the doctor tells you. Hopefully brighter days for us!!!

Well today has been interesting. I went to the bathroom this morning to have a bm...I looked down and was bleeding right much. It freaked me out at first, but I remember they said some bleeding with your stools is expected after surgery. 10 days out I guess I didn't expect it. I think my bowels are a little too hard. I noticed this last night so I think I must have irritated the surgery site. It stopped soon as I got up and shower off, took bath...now I am scared to go again.

*I called the doctors office and the nurse said it sounded normal..it's not unusual to bleed some after the surgery...not to freak out. I also asked her about the swelling and she said that also sounded normal. As long as there is no new swelling, nothing to worry about. So her confirming about the swelling being normal made me feel so much better.**

May try a little MOM tonight to soften my stool.

Today was much better day. Getting up and around more:). MOM did the trick...had right many bm's today..no pain or bleeding. Thank goodness! Nurse called back to tell me what the doctor said...and he said do not be concerned. My swelling sounded normal, can take up to 6 weeks for this to go down. Bleeding normal also. Even though that's what she said yesterday, it made me happy that the doctor confirmed it.

I have replied twice and I think I have hit the wrong reply button each time :( ...First of all my Drs apt went really well and gave me encouragement that I was on the road to recovery and everything was pretty much normal. Stick with the MOM!! It is much gentler and reliable. I am taking 1 TB at night and I have had a regular BM every morning since surgery. Be sure to watch your diet...lots of fiber, no red meat, cut down on sugar and lots of water. My Dr. said the same thing about what I thought were new hemorrhoids...just a bit of swelling, not new ones! Thank goodness! I think our minds always think the worse!! He said if there was any tissue (he called them skin tags) at my next appt. (4 weeks) he would just do a quick procedure in the office and everything would be as good as new. If you watch your diet I think you should be ok. I have lost 7 lbs. but feel great. I feel I am eating much healthier and really watching the food I eat...no more unhealthy food! Let me know how your appt. goes...keep up the warm baths as necessary!! They are so soothing...don't you think? Try to get up and move about more...I think that is a very critical part...I was walking around the block at the end of the first week and I think that helped a lot...very good for your system to get things moving!! Take care and good luck on Thursday...d.

That is great news!! Thank goodness they are not new hemorrhoids!! This makes me feel better too, as I have been worried about the swelling...even though the dr said not to worry. I will feel better after my apt.
MOM definitely does the trick! I too have really changed my diet. I still have had no caffeine or red meat in 14 days. I used to always drink soda...but I don't miss it like I thought I would. I can tell how the water really helps. I have been up and about the past few days...my dad rode me around town 2 days ago and it felt so good to get out. I plan on going to the drug store with my mom over the weekend to get a few things that I am getting low on. I can tell that moving around more does get things going better. & YES I love my baths!
Thanks so much for your advice...and sharing your experience, it's easier to talk to someone who is actually going through it. Glad you are doing good & I will update after the dr.

Update: Went to doctor today for my 3week post op check up and said everything looks normal!! He took out a stich that needed to be removed..I can already tell it feels better. He said the swelling will continue to go down and he did not need to see me anymore unless I had a problem. Feeling very relieved & happy.XD Happy healing to you all!

Hey Denisej...Hope you healed up good. Was wondering if you had to get any skin tags removed? I think I am going to be left with one. Other than that I am pretty much back to normal. :)

I was hoping the whole time it was going to go away as the other swelling did. It's annoying b/c the dr. told me everything looked normal. I know they are common after hemorrhoidectomy but was really hoping to be back to normal after this. Do not really want to be cut on again. :( Guess I will call dr soon to see what he thinks. Good luck at your appt. please update.
