I am having the exact taste issues described. My surgery was Dec 4th, exactly 2 months ago today. I'm 38 years old. If anyone can post more about how long this taste disturbance lasts, I'd appreciate it. My ENT said nothing, either. :-(

I am so glad to find others with the same issue - I am 40 and had my tonsillectomy Jan 7, 2009 - it was by far the worst pain I have ever experienced. I am now having the hardest time with food - still cant eat much of anything beyond soup and water - anything else feels like I am choking - the taste is always metallic - which doesn't make you want to eat. I am not and have never been a coffee drinker - but it is one of the few things I can taste - my ENT said it could take anywhere from 3-6 months for the taste buds to come back when I went for my post op appt. :-(
