I have had urination problems for two years as a result of seed implants for cancer treatment. I have used intermittent catheters continually since the implants. The cancer was cured but the side effects were very debilatating. I had been reading many of these posts and was afraid to try the laser surgery as it sounded like the results were not always effective and the side effects sounded terrible. I work full time and could not afford to take a lot of time off to recover so that was another problem. My urologist recommended a TURP procedure but told me leakage would likely be a problem afterwards and I would need from two to four weeks to recover. My prostate was very large at 115 gr. I needed to do something as I was beginning to have problems even getting the catheters to go in and my urethera was very irritited and would bleed often.

I read about holium laser treatment being used at the Mayo Clinics in Rochester, Minnesota and decided to look into that. I had their procedure done a few days ago and the results are fantastic. I feel like I have my life back. I have had no bleeding and my urine flow is like it was when I was in my 20's and 30's. My control seems to be good also with only a few drops of leakage after completing urination. I was very impressed with the clinic and the doctors. They are very thorough and willing to answer all questions and don't rush you. I highly recommend them for this problem. :-) The have done hundreds of this procedure so really have a handle on what they are doing and have the very best of equipment. I wanted to be sure to post a good story here as I think most of those of us that have good results do not bother to write anything. I also followed the recommendation of one of the posts to mix bicarb of soda and water to keep my urine more alkaline. Acidic urine is bound to burn on sensitive tissue. I think it works.
