Are there any research results out there for the long-term effects of smoking mullein herb as a device to quit smoking cigarettes? A friend of mine has been smoking mullein for a year now and is using it as a replacement for cigarettes, meaning he is smoking it all day long, every day. For a while now he has been displaying severe change in personality, amost like a hyer-thyroid problem. Ill tempered, depressed, anxious, impatient, rude and snapping at people. Could is be long-term effects of Mullein smoking? Everything I found on the web suggests that it is a harmless and healthy herb, but I'm wondering if there are long-term useage problems?

Sounds like the only effects he is having is nicotine withdrawals...the mullien is easing his craving, but not his dependency...It will take a few months before the crankiness and irritability goes away from the effects of not having nicotine in his system....
