I understand there are several topics about this already, but I'm still having a bit of trouble.
I have shaved my pubic area for the first few times and red bumps have come up. Other topics said to just use a fresh blade and special shaving cream, but I use an electric razor because I find it easier and just as efficient. Is this bad? Should I switch?
How can I avoid infection, because I'd really rather not go to the doctor, because it would be extremely embarrassing.

The red bumps are merely razor burn, and that's usually due to lack of moisture on the area being shaved. I used to dry shave my pubic area too, and I had razor burn all over my skin down there. I've never used an electric razor, but I suppose that could be the cause. As far as a special shaving cream, I've never felt a need for it myself. I just lather up some soap, apply to the area, and shave using that. I've never had razor burn doing it this way, nor have I ever had an infection. I know a lot of people swear that women can get infections from using soap on their genitals, but I've yet to have it happen. The only thing resembling an infection you may get, regradless of what you use to shave, may be an infected hair follicle, which will eventually heal on its own.
I would say, for the heck of it, maybe just try shaving with soap and water, or shaving cream and water...and with a normal razor. See if this doesn't help the razor burn a little.

Try using at all times a new clean razor, the 5 blade type. Also at Walmart you can find a shaving soap and a Beaver Brush ( no pun intended). Use the two to create a super lather and apply generously. Good shaving soaps have aloe vera and Glycerin, a very good lubricant. Shick makes a very good 5 blade razor with a lubricant in the head. When shaving always use cold water and rinse the razor after each stroke. Always shave i one direction, up, not down and sideways or all over the place. Keep the skin taught with the other hand. It is also best to shave in a warm to hot bath of Sea salts and bubble bath. I am a professional Cabaret dancer and have learned these techniques over my years in show Biz. I have found that most women are too much in a hurry to properly shave body hair. Plenty of time and the right tools as I have described are the best way to prevent razor burn.
