Hi, I'm a 15 year old girl who started shaving "down there" about a year ago because of the embarrassing hair when I am in a bathing suit. I've never had sex & I'm sure it's razor burn but I need to do something about it because I feel it is getting worse & worse. Ever since I started I have been getting red bumps right on my bikini line & in my pelvic area. I've read other forums that suggest buying a new razor every time but that is just not possible for me. I don't know what to do & don't want to talk to my mother about it. Please help me! I need a quick & cheap fix!

Okay I know the feeling. The little red bumps are normal. It's gonna happen. But the one MAJOR tip I taught myself was not to shave against the hair growth. Like with your legs you shave up because your hair usually grows downward, so you get the closest shave. Well in the pubic region shave down if your hair grows down. It is a very sensative area and ingrown hairs are so likely to happen. If you shave WITH your hair instead of against it, your chances of getting an ingrown hair is much less. It still might happen, but not to the extremity that it was. And don't touch it because really it only makes it worse. Oh and always take your time and be very careful. You don't want to cut yourself in that region. Also to help with the clean razor issue... make sure you replace your blade cover that most razors come with. It will definately help with sanitation, but start doing this with a new razor so it's not going to grow bacteria with the already dirty razor. Also, I use a three blade razor and they come with soothing strips on top. These really help irritation to newly shaved skin. Hope I helped.

I remember when I was experimenting and this same thing happened to me but sometimes it gets worse because your skin doesn't agree with shaving. You should stop while you are ahead:-/ ever tried waxing the area? And using lightening creams like Nadinola to lightening the existing marks?

After bathing in worm water I use my hair conditioner to make my razor glide over it for a close shave.
