I am 54 and have COPD, Fibromyagia, Peripheral Neuropathy (numbness & tingling in legs and feet). When I stand, my legs get red and spotted and turn a brownish color. I get out of breath and very tired. I have to hurry and sit back down. I feel like it must have something to do with circulation because, even though I have small legs, they are swollen some. I take Lasix and Potassium.
Could anyone help me? I guess I get out of breath because of the COPD even though I am on Oxygen but why the spotted legs and knees?
Thanks, katwoman1

My arms get purple with reddish spots when I go out in the cold, but when I rub them and warm them up they get a lot better.
My legs get red and splotchy when I'm in the shower, and sometimes just when I stand for a little while... but the problem is not nearly as bad in the summer.
A lot of times when I'm at school or work, I'll raise my hands above my head for a minute, and my arms will get much less red for a minute or two, but when they are lowered to my side the blood rushes right back to them
I have been to the doctor, and diagnosed with raynaud's, but it doesn't really seem like I have that; the closest thing I could find that looked like what I have is "rythromelalgia", but my skin doesn't normally look nearly as affected as most of those pictures.
More often than not, my skin is normal when I am at home, but when I leave it always seems to get worse :-(
I don't know what to do.

i have been having this problem for over 9 yrs now, so basically ive had it since i was 16 yrs old. it totally changed my life, it brings alot of depression. i cant wear shorts or skirts anymore, couldnt even have a nice day at the beach or wear shorts to barbq's. my legs are perfectly fine when i wake up in the morning, but when i get up and start to walk around for a few minutes, u can see my legs start to change into reddish color. and when its cold, my legs turns purple, blue. after these years its gotten worse, and now they're on my arms too. the thing is when i press down on my skin, i can see the color fade away, and when i unpress it comes back. i havent seen anyone with these symtoms before thats why its really frustrating. i shouldnt have waited this long for help, it really took over my life and my daily activities. i need help really bad...
p.s, it does not hurt

i am 13 years old and has already found out i have some of the same symtoms as yous. first of all srry about my spelling...like some of you i get red/ dark purple hands and feet that are usually always cold and also red spots on my legs and stomach when i get out the shower. so what it is,is poor circulation however i went to the doctors and it is rynoeds phominon ...once again srry about spelling. i was reading some of your responces and it seems like some of you might have it as well. i went to 3 different doctors about this, they told me people usually get it after 15 years of age but i've had it sine i was very very younge. one doctor told me that there is a pill to help control only the purpleness in hands and feet but can only be uses 18 years or older and only by people that only get purple hands/feet not red. they also told me that the purpleness was not enough blood getting into my hands/feet and so the redness was when blood rushes to my hands/feet. if you do get purple or red hands/feet easily never change the temperature in them too quickly...this happened a few times to me...i would get very cold,go into a hot shower but then my toes would turn almost black.i told my doctor about this and he said always first warm yourself with body heat or some kind of heat gradually preventing this to happen....i hope u found some part of this resourceful

I HAVE HAD PURPLE ROUND KINDA SWOLLEN SPOTS ON MY FEET FOR ABOUT 3YEARS NOW. THEN DONT HURT, THEY JUST LOOK HORRIBLE. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY CARDIOVASCULAR DOCTORS AND DERMATOLOGIST BUT NO ONE CAN FIGURE THIS OUT. MY FATHER DIED OF A MASSIVE HEART ATTACK SO I AM REALLY CONCERNED. ?

The soles of my feet get red/purple a lot too. They are extremely cold to the touch especially around my ankles and my achilles tendons and my heels. I have no idea what is causing that but I have a clue. I have an undiagnosed heart problem that could be the reason why it is happening.

I've read most of these replies, and I have the same conditional symptoms. My legs, arms, hands, and feet all turn purple quite often. And the red splotches...yikes. It get's so painful I always have to cut my showers short because I just can't stand up any longer. Quite a terrible thing. And Anytime I move for long periods of time, they just go numb.
Someone should get a doctor to reply to these posts, because some people are short of funds, and cannot see specialists.
I hope it's nothing serious. o.O

Oh, boy I am relieved to see this is actually a rather common situation! I have blotchy skin, mostly on my legs and hands but this has never really been an issue. My extremities are usually cold and pinker than the rest of me at all times.
I have worked on my feet for 6-9 hours full time for at least eight years now and now get a stinging sensation around my big toes and balls of my feet. Usually it's only one of them at a time, right now it's my right. The pain usually only occurs when I have just got home from work after wearing socks that leave an indent. It gets bad enough that I have had to sit down in the middle of a shower, as the guest above posted. And like many of you guys, I had a span of a few years where part of my right leg went numb for periods of time. It was my right hip and it eventually went away after I sold my car and stopped driving. It had begun shortly after I got my first car at 17.
Ugh, if I end up seeing a doc I will post what they see here.

Hello
I'm 15 and I have really bad circulation too, my hands and feet turn white/purple/red and after doing some research I have found that I have Raynauds disease. I would like to know how to prevent this because I have a healthy diet and I exercise regularly and I generally wrap up warm and those are usually the suggestions given. Does anyone have any other methods or know of any medicines that I can use? I have researched into garlic, ginger, ginkgo, cayenne and vitamin b but is there any thing else that I should be eating/taking or maybe should be cutting out? Thanks you =)

I have had this problem for all my life...My legs are shaped beautifully and i'd love to wear shorts but my legs and feet are always a blue, purple color and it is embarassing. I am only 18 but i've had it since i was born i also have the problem when get out of the shower or when i am in it my feet almost turn a dark blackish color. When i am asleep and wake up in the morning my legs are a nice color as well as my feet but as soon as i start walking around they start getting discolored again! I really hope there is something i can do to stop this or make it less noticeable so i can wear skirts or shorts...It's pretty bad i won't even wear bathing suits in the summer b/c of it and as i said my body is a nice shape so it is a shame...Any one have any ideas or remedies?! I'd appreciate more then you'd know!

I have this too. When I was born the doctor said it was a birthmark. Yeah right. This "birthmark" runs all the way up to my right knee when I am cold. I'm 19 and weigh 130 pounds. My blood pressure is usually low, 100/70-80 i would guess but I usually don't pay attention to the second number.
Today I noticed that the left leg is starting to look the same. Yeahhh, life sucks.
