I am a recent hives -sufferer. I'm 33 and decided to stop using the NuvaRing in April of 2016. 3 days after I was suppose to insert a new ring (but didn't) I broke out into a rash of hives. Before linking the hives to hormones, we tried new laundry detergent, chemical-free lotions and shampoos, wheat-free diet, dairy-free diet, alcohol -free lifestyle, latex-free, etc, etc. Nothing stopped the hives. Then a colleague shared that she had a short bout of hives after giving birth, and maybe mine were hormone related.
When we thought back to when the hives started, that seemed to be the link! After a few months of everyday hives, I am now down to about twice a month - when my estrogen spikes in my cycle. (At least that's the connection I've made.)
My gynecologist shrugged his shoulders and offered a Claritin Rx. That was frustrating. My chiropractor, who also does nutritive testing, said he's seen a lot of this - of women suffering from hives when they either start or stop birth control. He suggested a "clean-eating" diet, and said it should work out itself out of my system within 3 months or so (I had used the ring for about 3 years).
I've also taken herbal supplements to support liver function - since your liver is partly responsible for toxin elimination and hormone regulation. It has almost been 3 months and I'm starting to see a decline.
I really hope this helps! I'm dedicated to HEALING my body, not simply taking medications for my entire life. I hope you find healing too!
