Hi, I had my turp last Friday 7th or was it 6th. I was expecting all kinds after reading reviews on the web. .I went for general anesthetic because I had knee replacement surgery Feb and again May this year with spinal anaesthesia and didn't like the experience. Yes it's been one hell of a year. I needed the turp because of poor water flow and the knee ops seemed to make things worse. I woke with a catheter out of my penus and irregation bag to wash everything thru. I can say I've had absolutely zero pain and discomfort from the op. The only discomfort is trying to sleep with a catheter tube from your penus to the bag at the edge of the bed. The pipe was clear enough on the Monday morning that I could have it removed. We are now Tuesday 11th and I can say I've no drips although I did wear a pad to work today just in case of small bleeds. All I have are a few drops of slightly red urine drips on the pad for the whole day. I get no sore sharp pees which I hear can happen. In fact you would never guess I'd been under surgery.this may be down to a brilliant consultant I don't know. Can't praise him enough.

There is a 70% chance he will have retrograde ejaculations. Its been 9 months since my surgery and i have retrograde and will probably will the rest of my life. Ejaculation and orgasm are two different things. Sex and his enjoyment will not be effected

I can pee normally. But, my sex life, however, has gone A-wall. Yes, it can be summoned to appear pharmaceutically but it's not nearly the same. Not even close. So now you're standing by the edge of this enormous cliff. Jump if you want peeing to return to near normal but be aware of this warning, your sex life will suffer disproportionately. Prostate, I never realized just how important you have always been, but now you're gone only to return very occasionally, I miss you a lot.

I am 53. I had my TURP 7 weeks ago. Stayed in the hospital overnight, went home the next day with a belly catheter in for over 2 weeks. Peed blood and clots for about 4 weeks. Drink plenty of water, guys! Flushes all the bad out. My pee has no blood now but still a little cloudy. Total retrograde ejaculation but I will take that over not being able to pee. My problem is that I really don't get strong urges to pee. My mind wakes me up once or twice a night to pee. So if I wake up I figure I have to pee, so I do. During the day I just try to keep track of how long it has been since I have peed and if it has been 4-5 hours then I will go to the bathroom and pee. I have no problem with flow or anything, just the urge to pee seems to not be like it used to be. Guess I will ask my Urologist about this when I see him November 13th. Hope I can quit taking Flomax now and not have to take it forever. Overall, I say it was definitely worth having this done.

I'vr had a TURP, and I DIDN'T get retrograde ejaculation.

Your a lucky man to have such a wife. After the turp, I never last ease in getting and keeping erections, but I hate the fact that I don't ejaculate. It has taken away a sensation in the penis head when coming: it's a diffused sensation. Ever try a prostrate massager? Are they recommended for men with such difficulties? I hear it's great for replacing the need for viagara like stuff.

I'm 61. I just had Bipolar TURP 3 days ago. I stayed over night in the hospital and went home after lunch the next day. I went home with a catheter and had it removed today. I am pretty swollen up but I can urinate slowly. Hopefully as the swelling goes down it will get better. I have passed a few small clots but little to no blood. It burns right at the tip but it is bearable. Now it is just a waiting game.

had my turps Friday 31 august 2018 .. out of hospital sunday ..my recovery already sounds like Charles ..after being on avodart for 3 years ..and self cathetirization for 3 months no real problems ...just wearing a pad in case of any leakage but not really needed but I have great bladder control ..and peeing like a farm animal with minimal pain on urination [ already easing ] is it luck ?? is it age - weight - diet ...who knows ...I think the surgeon is the main issue and mine was brilliant and a great communicator .. sex is the next issue ...almost certainly September 2018...I am in the UK …

I had this surgery in November 2018. I am going to be 80 . I thought The doctor and his staff were told me all of the posibilties. No deception. The mere was no cancer. I miss the old ejaculation moment as what I was expected to. But have implemented a new procedure and there is no deception. Still happy to have most of the control back..

Thank You. I found your post to be one of the few that were positive. I'm scheduled for surgery in three days and I guess i'm pretty worried based on all the negative posts I have read but, I'm hoping everything will be better than it is now.
