Hi all, I've had a bit of unfortunate events after giving birth to my baby in August of 2015.  I did have a bad fourth degree tear which did not heal properly and developed a small low rectovaginal fistula. The dr checked me out at my six week checkup and couldn't feel any hole in my rectum but believed me when I told him my symptoms. Which were passing gas grouchy vagina and with soft bowel movements having feces from the very lowest almost the entrance to the vagina beneath the perineum.  He told me to come back in six weeks and I did with similar symptoms. He referred me to a specialist but I just wasn't ready for it yet emotionally. I was too scared. So I watched my progress and noticed the fistula getting smaller. Flash forward to the other day when I finally visited a colorectal surgeon. He saw the fistula which is very small (the size of a pinhole almost) on the rectum side and a little larger on the vaginal side. He explained the inpatient surgery and I just don't have anyone to watch my little one for a month where I would be restricted from lifting anything. I requested Premarin cream from my dr (who should have given this to me at six weeks!) and I am hoping someone has experience with a fistula healing without surgery and with Premarin. Anyone out there that could help me find some confidence?

Thank you, Cassidy

I had a total hysterectomy with endometriosis and also had to have part of my small bowel removed and have a colostomy performed. I had the colostomy reversed six months later. About two weeks later, I developed a rectovaginal fistula. I was hospitalized and put on nutritional therapy and had a surgical consult. They wanted to rest my bowel. I am a Christian and there were many people praying for me. God divinely intervened and healed my fistula. I did not have to have surgery. The surgeon said if my symptoms persisted bad, I may even have to have had another colostomy. I thank God for this awesome miracle.

Hi, due to childbirth, and a 4th degree tear, has anyone had a colostomy-sphincteroplasty? Thanks for reading.
