Removal of ovary and fallopian tube

I had to have my right tube and ovary removed due to a 22 pound ovarian tumor. 1 year and 1 day to the surgery, my daughter was born at a healthy 8 pounds 9 ounces. It is possible.

hi my name is carla sorry to bother you but i was wondering if you could tell me the precdure for having a fallopian tube and ovary out .eg keyhole surgary or a full cut i would be gratefull if you could tell me because i am going to have the op but dnt no how its done thankyou

I had my right ovary and fall tube removed last month due to an ectopic pregnancy, My doctor informed me that the other ovary just takes over, does all the work EVERY month, just as if I still had the other one, kind of like if you were to lose a kidney, I guess. SO, don't worry, she should be fine with fertility later on! We are trying to conceive, and I'm very positive it'll happen soon! :-D

Hi, when I went for my first pregnancy scan they found a cyst that was about the size of a small plum, I had it removed a few weeks later, I had to be cut as the surgeon had to maniplulate the womb to one side, the cyst had grown to the size of a large grapefruit and the fallopian tube had wrapped around it, the surgeon removed the cyst, fallopian tube and ovary. I continued with my pregnancy and had a beautiful baby girl, this was in 1987. I never tried for children again then 5 years later I came off the pill and fell pregnant within 2 months and had a baby boy. My children are 22 and 17, the doctor told me that the ovary that was left had taken over and I had normal monthly periods. At 45 I went to the doctors as my periods had stopped, he gave me a blood test and told me I was post-menopausal, that must have been one of the quickest menopause in history. So dont dispair it, it worked ok for me. XD

It shouldn't pose too much of a problem, and she will still produce an egg each month.... I have just turned 18 and had to have my right ovary and left tube removed just before my 17th birthday.... the doctors have informed me that there is still a slight chance for me but my odds would have been significantly higher had the tube and ovary been on the same side as now there is no connection between my remaining ovary and tube making it problematic as far as conceiving is concerned

I am on day 2 of post op, right ovary and tube removed, I also was told that the left ovary will take over.

I had my right ovary removed when I was 17. I was put on birth control immediately after, I am now 20. Your daughter should be fine. the only thing I noticed was extremely light periods. Everything else seems normal! Wish you luck :)

I had to have my left ovary and fallopian tube removed due to an ovarian cyst when I was just 15 years old. I went on to have 2 beautiful and healthy children at age 24 and 26 without any problems (and on the first try!). I was however told that i will face menopause early :-(

Hi there,

Last year I had my left ovary and Fallopian tube removed. Having only one ovary doesn't effect a woman's ability to get pregnant and here's why; her left ovary will compensate for the right one. She will have a period every month and every month her one ovary will produce an egg. Normally, ovaries take turns producing an egg each month but when one is removed the other one picks up the slack! I plan to make babies someday and I'm not worried one bit about it!

hello i have just recently turned 17 and i have had my right ovary and follpian tube removed due to adhesions and cysts and ive got told im fine to have a successfull pregnancy apart from if i get cysts on my left side then that has got to be taken out , so need to worry your daughter will be fine it is more coping with the psychological stress which im finding hard.

Hello. Your daughter should not have any issues getting pregnant in the future with one ovary and tube. You have regular periods and ovulate regularly. It compensates for the other missing ovary. I had mine taken out due to endometriosis and have had 8 surgeries for this stuff. I have 2 beautiful healthily children and 2 beautiful step children. Anything is possible. Make sure you know and trust your Obgyn, if not, seek second or third opinions. Good luck in the future!

I have had my left tube and ovary removed for that same reason..I found out I was pregnant two years after the Laparoscopy and removal was performed. I was told after I had my son that he was an angel baby. Well sure enough seven years later I had my daughter. I went back to the same doctor that told me I was to not have any more children. He looked at me like I was crazy when I told him I was pregnant that he took me himself to the ultrasound department to confirm that I was infact pregnant. I was 8 weeks when I found out with both my kids.

The reason why I am telling you this is because Doctors are nature. Let nature take its course and when her body is ready to carry a baby she will become pregnant. You have ni idea how depressed I was only having one child even though I wanted more. But I was glad to atleast have the one. I ovulate every other month but I still have a monthly cycle. Your daughter will have her child(ren) in the future, when her body is 100% healed. She will be fine. I now take birth control pills so I can finish my Masters degree and I will worry about having more in the future.

Your daughter is blessed to have a mother like you. She will be fine. Don't worry!! Just don't listen to the doctors, every patient is different. Yes doctors are excellent at what they do, but they always compare one patient to another. That's not right. She will have babies and you will become a grandmother.. :)
