Been suffering from this almost a year. At its worst it was like a 10 out of 10.
Had every possible test done. Even a MRI. Everything was TG negative
My primary provider suggested Vit B shots once a week and Zinc.
After two months the salt taste decreased and now it is a 2 to 3 out of 10.

I am still havit Vit B12 shots once a week and do think this has helped.
I take a zinc tablet daily and have some chewable zinc on hand for when the taste is really bad.
I would recommend the above.

The surges of salt at different times during the day is really awful.
I saw on the internet that it was suggested to drink lemon juice.
This is actually very helpful. Leaves a better taste in the mouth.
