Scars in Kidney

I am also wondering about the ureter tightning up agin. I started with stones over 2 years ago and had 5 procedures in a year to remove them. Because of the scar tissue, I cannot pass a stone on my own. Well, I continued to have pain but because the ex rays showe'd no stone, they just sent me on my way. I had to go to my regular dr for abdominal pain and he ordered an ultrasound which show all ok with my gall bladder however my left kidney (which is the one all my stones have been in) showed dilation. He advised me to see my urologist and I did. They set me up with a retrograde pylogram to see where blockage coming from. That showed scar tissue so they dilated my ureter and put a stent in. Stents are not fun. I too want to know what happens once the stent is removed. I can't imagine the ureter staying open forever. Has anyone else had this and what were the results.

Hi my wife she has a cortical scar on her kidney and her right kidney is 88 mm PT-10 mm and her left kidney is 103mm and PT-13 mm and as per doctors reports it says evidence of cortical irregularity noted at upper pole of right kidney and cortical scar .

And when i checked with doctor she said it is not recommended to have a baby and if in case she be pregnent there are chances of kidney failure and she has hypo thyroid as well .

please can any one recommend me what to do and how can we get solution or treatment for this

Hi, I have a duplex kidney on he right kidney too, consultant said there's nothing to be down with it, I've also been diagnosed with scarring on the same side I've been ill for the last 2 years and I'm not on any antibiotics at all should i be?

Hi my husband is slso in same condition. I want to ask you whether your scars increased or not? Do you have recurrent episodes of infections after reflux has been solved.

Hi. The scaring did not increase...that would only happen if I continued having kidney infections. I had a kidney infection about 5 years ago that was deemed a super bug and after multiple antibiotics failed to treat it...I had a PIC line put in and given an infusion of strong antibiotics for 18 days. I try hard to not eat or drink anything that already has antibiotics in it as my kidneys afford to loose its ability to have them work. I normally tak Cipro for infections but that no longer seems to work which is concerning. Minimizing infections is key to his health. The reflux was fixed when I was a child and has not recurred. As a women bladder infections are always problematic so I take extra care but have been doing well for sometime. Hope all is going well.

That's really good. Just 6 months back only we came to know that my husband is having mild cortical scars in bilateral kidneys. His b.p remain between 130 to 90. Now he had started taking medicine for b.p. as his all reports are normal only creatinine is 1.2 only .4 higher. Can we preserve renal function for our lifetime. What about yours? Have you concived? Where are you putting up. ? May God bless you with good health. Have you done with your DMSA scan.

My husband is 34 yr old when we came to know this our lives got shattered at that time we were living into stress. We are having twins day are small I am just very much scared of this doctors said just to contours blood pressure. Can't predict for future. His DMSA scan one kidney is functioning 43% and other 57%.Pl reply....what about your kidne function is it same as it was 15 years back.

What if docs put in a a kidney which has some scarring on it..woudnt it be better to have one with no scarring? After all waited 6 years for it

I have had bladder infections since a child ..stones started at 19 I'm 41 now have had stones over n over stents surgery litrothippy whatever its called 5 yrs ago the pain in my left kidney was so bad I had stones was pissing straight blood ..doctor said no more work being that stressed increased stones said my bp was too high said kidney disease was stage 2? I dunno they never well I never heard kidney disease just prone to stones n infections..but doc said its scar tissue really bad I was put on bp pills pain meds water combined with pb I have pain everyday
