i have recently had a seizure from overdosing on tramadol (ultram) and now im having panic attacks all the time and i feel as if im going to have another seizure. my left arm goes numb i start to get dizzy and it usually accures when im trying to go to sleep, sometimes it will happen during the day. i have all the same symptoms that i did before i had the seizure, i will get dizzy, my arm goes numb, and it feels like my hand is starting to tighten or contrast like it did when i had the seizure. i think its my subcontious telling my body that im going to have another seizure. i was wondering if there was anything i could do to get rid of that feeling? please reply asap! thank you!

What did you take tramadol with when you had the seizure? Another medicine, or a drug or maybe alcohol?

I made the biggest mistake in my life when I drank alcohol while on Tramadol. It was nice while it lasted. I was at such east the whole night until I came home and suffered from breath loss. It was awful. I couldn’t breath, I have never panicked that much before. I was taking the deepest breaths ever, and sometimes I thought I won’t be able to get another one. Then it would stop for a minute and start again. It lasted for about 10 min.
The scariest moment of my life.

Did you talk about your doctor about the seizure? I think you’re having these panic attacks because of your experience and are going through the signs all over again. But that is just my opinion and I am no doctor nor expert. I think you should consult the doc who prescribed the drug and be open with him/her.

Hey Derrick,

I understand exactly what you are going through. I was given tramadol post back surgery from my doctor and I took a muscle relaxer with it one night and ended up going into a seizure. Since then I have been having really bad panic attacks to the point where I am just suddenly blacking out.

I no longer take the tramadol and am back to just ibuprofin for the back pain. And am seeing doctors to figure out what to do about the panic attack thing. Obviously I am not a doctor either. But all I can say is that you are not alone. This is a real thing that we have to endure and if I can stay strong through this then I know you can too.

Someone who cares :-)

Two weeks ago, I was at work and going about my business.. While at work I * had had eight broken ribs and still working... I needed the hours* anyway I took my tramadol when I got there, because it was time and I was in severe pain... Within an hour of taking it.. I was going about my business and suddenly,, the world tilted.. I was like.. c**p... didnt get enough to eat in the morning. So I got a sandwhich and ate it.. thinking nothing of it.. You know low blood sugar.. then a quarter an hour later, you know fifteen minutes.. My left arm was killing me, my feet and hands were sweating so bad that my socks got wet... i called my manager and told her to get someone over there because I felt BAD. They didnt... I called my husband and asked him tobring his blood pressure cup and get over here, because frankly I felt like I was having a heart attack... He came right away, blood pressure was heavily ellivated.. He called an ambulance and off to the ER I went. I have to tell you on I live in Wyoming... and its 100 miles to the nearest ER. On the way they gave me O2 and monitored me. when I got there my muscles had caused bruises.. The entire time I thought.. well this is it... anyway.. when I got to the trauma center, and was tested for EVERYTHING, the doctor came back asked me what meds I was taking.. I told her nothing more then Singular for asthma and tramadol. The minute tramadol was out of my mouth she gave me a sad smile... Asked me if I had a drink of anything that had booze in it within 12 hours. I said yeah I had a beer the night before... She told me that people taking tramadol are more likely to have a seizure or panic attack seizure if taken with any kinds of alchohol. at any time they are taking tramadol. Something my doctor forgot to tell me.. It stays in the blood longer then most meds.. Anyway... its been two weeks and I have continously had this seizures... Am now on lexapro and clozidapan* not spelled right am sure* The doctor told me that this might be a life long problem... My advice would be NOT TO EVER TAKE TRAMADOL. EVER. And its a very easily prescribed pain killer. I asked for something that is not narcotic... and was assured it wasn't... It is.. I rather have been hurting then to scare my co workers, family members or MYSELF as I was scared two weeks ago.. I know this most likley will NOT help.. Ask your doctor... if they ignore your concerns as my first docs did get a NEW doctor... If anything else will save you the six thousand dollar haul into a trauma center.. Since then ... I can not touch Caffeine in anyway,,, it sends me into the same sort of seizure as I had that day.. hence the clozidapan... There should be some sort of warning, which I never got from the doctors or the pharmacists who filled it... Good luck.
