I know this is an old post but I have this SAME EXACT THING and it started after my second child was born. Did you ever find any relief? My child is almost 1 and I feel like it will never get better.

I have this exact issue. 4am typing this bc I usually try to get my mind off the pain by googling ;) I've been to many GI doctors in NYC and total dead end. I travel a lot to lower development countries and have even wondered if it was parasites. I use to not realize that this bout of pain comes a week before my period. I'm 44 years old wondering if it's connected to menopause? Any other thoughts you have would be appreciated as your symptoms seen closest to mine. Next stop is the GI Drs will do a colonoscopy. Maybe it will be telling?

I think have the same thing. It only happens (starts) when I am asleep. The pain is so excruciating that I vomit involuntarily sometimes. Like your symptoms, the pain doesn't last long - sometimes max 30 minutes if I'm lucky. My mom is a nurse, the first time she saw me experience this, she wanted to take me to hospital fearing that it could be my appendix, but that was about the 3rd time I went through it, so I assured her that it would stop itself.

It has been about 8yrs since my first episode and because of their sporadic nature (there's no consistency with how they occur - sometimes they happen every month before my period, sometimes months go by without an episode) and because they really are only an issue when they occur and after that it's almost like nothing happened; I have pretty much never saw a need to officially have it "checked out".

This week I had two episodes, which was strange because I had never had two in the same month and also I have not had them in almost a year. I agree with you, they really do feel like contractions. When the pain starts subsiding, I can distinctly feel each cycle of trough-peak-trough-peak until the peaks disappear.

Alas, I'm not too worried about it. I suppose it's good that it doesn't have an official diagnosis yet - meaning it's not fatal enough to name :). It was comforting knowing that I am not the only one going through this. It sometimes irritates me when people with "normal" period pains insist on comparing it to their bearable monthly pains, that I also sometimes get - "no it is not the same thing, you don't roll on the bathroom tiling at night desperately pleading and praying for God to make it stop because you just threw up the pain killers you took to prevent yourself from getting to that point again where you wished for death over the pain you were going through".

Perhaps endometriosis. But it can also form on the lower intestine. Trust me, it happened to me. I had severe endo.and during my over 4-5 hr. Robotic surgery they had to call in a colorectal surgeon to take care of the endo.on my intestine. Pain was so bad before surgery. Now doing well after a year, but still have some sharp pains that come back and forth, but oh so much better. Good luck, hope you feel better. Hope this helped. I had to have several sonos.to find the leasions on my intestine. Btw.

I have this as well it always occurs during running one week before my period. It'll start about 7 minutes into my run and become unbareable. Walking doesn't even help but after about 30 minutes it goes away. It also occurs while having sex a week before my period. I saw a specialist and he said it was mittelschmerz. The only way to treat it is birth control.

Same! Except mine come and go in intervals. Like it's a horrible jabbing pain that forces me to hold my breath I'm in an extreme amount of pain that i cant stand and i have to lean over or sit down for a minute. Then it goes away faintly but there is still an uncomfortableness, a few minutes go by and the pain jabs me again. Ive actually been dealing with this for a few years now. Usually happens 5-7 days before my actual period. On rare occasions I dont get that. So if my period is late I can tell by the 'jabbing'

I have Hashimotos. When I switch from hypo to hyper, my period is light, I have no abdominal pain like everyone is speaking of. Last November until two weeks ago (following March), my period stopped. I thought I'd gone hyper again. Or maybe was perimenopausal. Suddenly, I was having pregnancy symptoms but wasn't pregnant. I was swelling horribly. I cut out gluten and dairy..still no relief from swelling. My hair was falling out. Finally, I had blood work done and my thyroid numbers were too high. Hypothyroid. Medication adjusted...BOOM! My period came back with a vengeance! Usually, the pain everyone is describing comes about two weeks before my period. It hurts for hours and then lets up suddenly. I feel like I'm bleeding around my bowels, on the lower right side, like there is tearing and pulling and hot searing pain. When I press on my abdomen when it's not flared up, there's no pain. This time, it came right AFTER my period and hasn't let up. It's always on the right side lower abdomen and mine lets up after I poop. I was told by a gyno years ago that it could be endometriosis after a csection but was never confirmed. It seems to be attached to my bowels. It doesnt follow the description or timing of endo. I also think I had a giant ovarian cyst burst on the left side this week. I was in a different excruciating pain for a few days then relief and then slight bleeding from my vagina and also pain in my ribs from displaced blood. My breasts are also very tender, which isn't normal for me even during my regular periods. I believe this has to do with hashimotos as well. I had my estrogen and progesterone tested last week and it came back normal. I'm so tired of this. I know if I go to a doctor, they'll blow me off.

I am literally experiencing the EXACT same thing. I went for ultrasounds and blood work and the doctor ruled out endo, but hasn't made any other leads either. When I urinate during this time it literally feels like my bladder is going to collapse I'm in such tremendous pain.

This is exactly what happens to me. I was ok all these years, but since Jan everytime a day before my periods, I get this excruciation pain in my lower abdomen, its a mix of gastric pain and period pain in back. I have never felt this before, my entire body gets hot flashes, feels lile vomiting. I have to take two ibuprofen to subside the pain. I got an entire pelvic ultrasound done, my uterus is all good and healthy. I dont know why this happens to me. But, it kills me whenever it does.

Does the pain ever wake you up from sleep?

Hi. I have the exact same issue. Pain 7-10 days before my period and the pain hits 3-5 times a day. And during this time I rarely get a full night of sleep because the pain wakes me up a couple of times each night. Each pain episode lasts ,10-15 minutes and when the it hits, I'm immobilized. Pain medication is not effective. Please let me know if your doctor was able to come up with an appropriate diagnosis for you. I went to my doctor who seemed to be clueless about my symptoms. I need a 2nd opinion. Thanks for you help.
