I have the same thing. It could be acid reflux. If it helps getting burps up make sure you have a sprite on hand. Sodas will help you burp up stomach air. I changed my diet and it has really been helping. Also i take prilosec OTC u cn get it at traget or vons. You will be fine  just eat better and sleep on an incline.

I am 11 years old and yet I have the same problem. When I was 9 it was caused by Appendicitis, in which I had to endure surgery. Now I have emetephobia and it is VERY uncomfortable. I also have a lot of stress, and that may be causing some things. I get motion sickness in the car which I never used to and I feel like I'm going to be sick. Emetophobia is the fear of being sick (vomiting) or seeing one be sick. It's really annoying to live with and every night I'm almost sure I'm going to throw up. Many doctors told me I was fine, I had an ultrasound done but nothing came up...all the people living with emetophobia you're not the only ones and I'm very sorry to see you're living with this annoyance too.

If you've got minor stomach pain, ginger ale is a wonderful remedy. My mom works in a pharmacy and she says that taking medication constantly for stomach nausea is not necessary. Emetophobia makes me not want to go out shopping or hang with friends and I'm reluctant to go away to sleepaway camp tomorrow. Even though people say Camp Qwanoes is great... you know, it's not fun. However, when I actually get to the place I'm going, I'm fine.

It also troubles me to ride in the car...I have to bring a blanket on a long car ride because I'm almost certain I will get sick.

Cheers,

Alex

Hi all, (and Alex) I'm soooo pleased my 11 year old daughter is not the only one: for over a year now she has been telling me she feels sick at bed time, in the car, going to friends...especially faced with sleeping at friends; insisting she is going to be sick. And permanently goes to bed with a sick bowl EVERY night (just incase she is going to be sick). It is driving me to distaction!!! I have no doubt the nausea is real, but how do I break the cycle of fear of being sick and its link to nausea. Emetophobia is no joke, after countless tests and nausea treatments that don't work, I beleive there has to be a solution to whatever the root cause of the phobia is. No amount of placebos will sort this, as it will only lead to more unnecessary and irrellevant rituals. If I find a solution I will post it...and if you find the magic wand first, be sure to let me know.

Debbie.

I was having this same thing for 5 years and just used alka seltzer, carbonated drinks whatever for relief. Thought it was an ulcer but finally told my dr and she did an ultrsound and found a huge tumor in the pancreatic junction and it had squashed the dueodeum and when I would lie down thats why the nausea got worse. Had a biopsy and the tumor and part of my colon removed and resectioned, not cancer but two years later getting sick again at night.

Has anyone on this thread asked their doctors about abdominal migraines? Yes, they do exist. I suffered with them for twenty years before I got a diagnosis. Often people grow out of them, but I haven't and at this point do not expect to. In those years, I had two upper GIs, an endoscopy, multiple blood draws, psychiatrist visits, neurologist visits, head CTs, head MRIs, etc. done. I was put on Xanax (yeah, they thought it was panic attacks..... at 4:30 in the morning regularly? Yeah.), Prilosec, Tagamet, Zantac, various antidepressants, etc. now I am down from about 5-7 days a week of 4+ hours of nausea per evening to about 3-4 per month.

I was nauseaous for 5 years at night thinking it was what I ate or acid reflux, several trips to the ER over the years and diagnosed each time with stomach flu finally went for a physical and told my dr and she began scans and blood tests. Turned out it was never stomach flu it was a large tumor in my right upper quadrant and when I laid down at night it pressed against everything and made me sick. It was removed and found to be attached to my colon and colon had to be resected so I recommend telling your dr all symptoms in case you have cancer or a tumor

Hi, I'm only 13 years old, I Have felt since I was 12 that I was going to throw up every night, I hate it so much! I feel sick all the time ! My mum has took me to go for heaps of blood tests, I went for a ultrasound, this drink test, breath test, and I have tried all these medications that never work, I try gaviscon every night and it still seems it dosent work, all these tests come out clear which is good but I need something to come up so they can cure it, seeing as alot of people have the same symptoms as me since 2008 probably even less, I think it's something thats doctors haven't found and whatever this is, it can't be found, I'm actually rely sick of it I can't talk properly to my friends I can't do sleepovers and my patents don't understand what it is like, I actually really wish that doctors find something, everynight since I was 12 I have cryed myself to sleep cos I think I'm gonna vomit, sorry to comment years later

I feel exactly the same way--im not lactose intolerent or whatever it is to do with dairy products, but then again the nights i feel nausceous are when ive had a glass of milk which i thought was healthy, but this has only been recently. Im a healthy person, i eat in proportion and all that stuff, i do plenty of physical activity. Im not scared of actually vomiting, i just dont want to have a moment when i dont realise im going to vomit and accidently puke while in bed because that would be embarassing and gross. I try to take deep breaths, but it doesnt really help. I havent told my parents yet becuase i didnt think it was anything important, but ive started to realise how irritating it is when im trying to sleep. I feel sorry for other people who are worse off, but it does kill my stomach and i have no clue why because its only been a recent thing. Xx

Hey all. I'm sorry to add to this at such a late date. This has been going on since June, it's now August. I know 2 months isn't as long as compared to some of you, but I'm concerened because I have quite a history of medical stuff. I haven't told my mom yet but I'm starting to think I should. It's very irritating and painful ecspecially in the throat area. I feel as though the vomit is just sitting there. I want to vomit too because I think it will make me feel better, but its painful and I just stopped living my life. Suggestions...

I had the exact same problem/symptoms –Plus more such as indigestion and a weird crapping gurgling feeling in my stomach (my symptoms mimicked stomach ulcers). For 12 months I went for test after test and the doctors couldn’t find out what was wrong. They ended up giving up and putting it down as irritable bowel syndrome (which I’m sure was just a I don’t know what it is so I’ll give it a name so you’ll stop coming back)

After seeing a naturopath he said it sounds like my body is not producing the right acid level he put me on Hydrochloric acid tablets. However after a few days I stopped taking them because they were causing me a lot of stomach pain. I went back to the naturopath and he said that my levels are so low that it was problem to strong he then put me on apple cider vinegar for 4 weeks the first 2 weeks I took 5ml every time I ate (this includes snaking) the 2nd 2 weeks I took 10mls every time I ate. After the 4 weeks I went back on the Hydrochloric acid tablets (this time no pain) I was on the Hydrochloric acid tablets for 3 months. It is now 12 months later and I am feeling great no symptoms :)

My 12 year old son is having similar issues. For the past two to three weeks he has been very nauseated at night a few times a week. It hits only at night. It hit him at 1am this morning. I end up giving him some medicine for nausea and he feels fine by morning. I'm concerned. He gets good grades and seems to be well liked at school.
I know if I take him to the doctor...they won't have a clue.
