Good morning everyone, I know this post is old but it still seems active and relavent.
I just wanted to post a possible solution. I also went through this terrible illness. It was debilitating and terrifying. I knew there was a problem. Tests were performed, (GI scans, colonoscopy, blood work over and over, internal and external ultrasounds and more). Diagnosis made, medicines prescribed....NOTHING worked.
Long story short. It ended up being very severe symptoms to pre diabetes. I am not over weight but I have always been sensitive to unhealthy foods. I would eat very healthy as a result but it was not enough. If I strayed even a little, I would suffer with these horrible symptoms as well as others. Constipation, bleeding, nausea, weakness, sleeplessness and more.
It was a long, hard road to recovery that included falling off the wagon occasionally. One bad day of eating (like on a holiday or at a BBQ) would result in suffering.
The healthier I ate, the less my body would let me stray. It was hard psychologically also as I felt that it wasn't fair that I couldn't eat like everyone else. I am a 43 year old mother of four. Working hard to take care of my family and felt as though I was being punished.
Long story short, I got over it. I recognized it as a blessing that my body was sensitive. That it quite likely saved my life. Others are not so fortunate. Others like me, of all ages and body types, get even more ill before developing severe diabetes. I know of some, who ended up not getting diagnosed at all, their wake up call (after years of nausea) being NOT waking up but falling into diabetic shock or even coma. By then there can be permanent damage like vision and nerve degradation to extremities.
My trigger foods: just about everything!
Carbs, carbs, carbs. Rice, pasta, bread, fatty foods, sugar (soda, all bottled juices, desserts, candy), chips, potatoes, cereal and more.
Solution: (I make the solution list because ultimately, this is what worked. Period. But it was HARD.) It was not as simple as it sounds just making a silly list. It was 2 years of trial and error.
Eating primarily a very, very low carb, high vegetable and fruit diet that is slightly higher is protein than most.
It was only possible to do with any consistency when I started following a routine. Making my diet almost a ritual of health and self love and appreciation.
I wake and made a very big glass of warm lemon, honey, himalayan pink sea salt and ginger water. I drink it slowly over and hour or so. Others I know drink it faster, same results. Then breakfast will consist primarily of one of these options: a smoothie (banana, kefir, frozen fruit, frozen ice cubes made from fresh vegetable juice), 1 or 2 eggs on a bed of spinach and fermented sides like kimchi, sauerkraut and a piece of squash and sweet potato or homemade oatmeal with dried and fresh fruit. Lunch is about the same. I rock the salads. They can be quite filling and your body will eventually crave them. Dinner is the lightest meal. Always!! Salads, seafood, eggs, beans, meat is fine if you like it...but with lots of veggies! Lunch is my heaviest meal. I generally do not use dressings anymore, I did in the beginning, now its just extra virgin olive oil, himalayan pink sea slat and spices (pepper and Korean red pepper). I just prefer it that way. I eat so much that the dressings were just too strong after a while.
I still eat bad sometimes, never a whole day. I can take on crappy food every once in a while in very small portions and followed by lean healthy eating in the same day. My family are also on board. They all came at their own pace and willingness.
I am healthier than I have ever been, I look and feel fantastic. My hair is growing back, as it was thinning unexplainably, and I have energy. I go to the bathroom regularly and I am currently off all of my 'stomach meds'.
Some reprogramming had to happen, in ways that were not logical in the beginning. Example:
1. Not all fats are bad. Actually fat is very healthy and I eat quite a bit of it with no weight gain. The ones that work for me: fish, fish oil, coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil. I can eat these freely.
2. ALL pre packaged, prepared foods are bad. No matter how much I want them. No matter how healthy they say they are. I may be able to tolerated them for a short while, always ends bad.
3. Salt is good for me and actually makes me feel better. Weird, I know!! This is NOT the salt we grew up on that I am talking about!! That salt is actually not even real salt, it is made in a lab. I am talking about unrefined sea salt. It comes in all sizes and colors. My favorite by far for the way it makes me feel (mental clarity, better sleep and more) is himalayan pink sea salt.
4. Raw honey is magical. Not regular cooked and strained honey but local raw honey. Support your local bee people. They rock! Helps with allergies and great for overall digestive health of adults.
5. Develop a routine. It is hard, I know!! School, kids, work...chaos! Try though, as much a possible. It is the only way to make long term changes. What is an example of routine? Honey, lemon and salt tonic every morning and before bed. Planning, shopping and preparing the foods you need everyday. (it is actually easier to do, compared to the way we use to eat!) and juicing regularly to make ice cubes for smoothies etc.
I hope this helps someone.

After rereading, I noticed all of my mistakes. I apologize for all of the typos! Also, the highlighted and double underlined words that are links happened after I published. The words are correct but I did not make any links. Also I only mentioned briefly without explanation, that I ended up having to focus heavily on my gut flora. I was barren due to antibiotics and diet. I started with really good, refrigerated probiotic pills but eventually was able to replace them totally with probiotic foods like milk and water kefir (homemade), yogurts, kimchi, sauerkraut and live uncooked foods with enzymes. I mention this because it took me a very long time to feel better and this was key to digestion, waste elimination and overall well being. D.L.

I eat around 7 and go to be between 9:30 and 10:30. I sleep for a bit and always wake up at about 12;00 feeling nauseous and sweaty and gross. Sometimes I even sit by the toilet because i just want it out so i can sleep. Most of the time i end up feeling ok by 4:30 am and fall asleep only to wake at 7:30 for school. I feel ok and so i eat breakfast, 15 mins after eating i feel really nauseous again? Whats going on?
