I googled this because i've been experiencing intense pain for the past couple of months. I'm 29 and the most intense episode landed me in the hospital with the doctors poking around not knowing what's wrong. The pains have become really intense now and even after a bowel movement it's still there. I cant cough or sneeze without having pain down there. I'm gonna take you guys advice and try to change my diet, hopefully that would help. Thanks

Hi everyone! I a 19 and have experienced these pains, and i find a hot drink, hotwater bottle and solpadine help. i went to te doctors and i had a rectal exam the doctor said it was a fissure which is a rip or scratch on the interstinal wall and she said there was nothing to cure it just to heal and the pain would come and go for about a month. Mine has gone for now but changing diet does help, plenty of fibre!! Glad im not the only one!

Hi everyone
I have had these spasms since I was a teenager (I am not in my 60s) They are intense and last for about 20 minutes or so. They are agony but harmless. I have never found out what causes them. They come usually at night but not always, and I have never found anything that makes them worse or better. It's just a case of trying to keep calm till they pass. Please don't worry, it is very common.

What happened with your cat scan - you seem to have the same problem as I have. I hope you are alright now?

Hello,
I'm 29 female and have only recently started experiencing acute pains in my rectum area. It's quite near the bone near my rectum where the pain intensifies. It happened in the morning shortly after making a smoothie of grapefruit, linseeds, apple, parsley and mint. I usually have this most mornings but have never experienced any thing until now. I am not sure if the fruit I had were infected with bacteria which may have caused it. I have known that the outside of fruit can be contaminated with bacteria spread from unhygienic workers etc. Actually, a handful of my friends have experienced food poisoning mostly from fruit and vegetables weirdly enough.
Anyway, I had to sit on the loo for a few minutes, maybe 10 minutes, waiting for the pain to go as it would fluctuate from a numbing pain to an intense pain right by rectum bone area. It's so bizarre!
After reading everyone's comments, I now realise that it may have something to do with me pushing a lot these past few days. Perhaps I have created pockets. However, I haven't been eating anything that would take a long time to digest. I have a lot of fibre in my diet, linseeds, sesame seeds, oats, brown rice and plenty of fresh vegetables. I eat an awful lot of dried fruit as well as exercise at least twice a week for an hour. So the only thing I can narrow it down to is stress or a bacteria from the fruit/vegetables I had been eating.
I wonder if anyone has ever fallen ill after handling and eating an unwashed fruit or vegetable?
