Hi Everyone,

I have the same problem - it's yeast. I get this exact same horrible pain (including the pain with urination) when I eat too much sugar. Once I use the one-day Monistat, I'm fine. Basically, all of us have a weak immune system, and a problem with all the junk, including high fructose corn syrup, that goes into our food. Some people, like us, are more sensitive to it. Here's how to help:
1. Watch sugars - stay away from from carbs such as white breads, cereals, cake, donuts, etc. Also culprits are soda and other sugared drinks. For example, I eat a hamburger without the bread. I only drink water and skim milk and an occasional decaf iced coffee.
2. Eat 1/2 cup of yogurt with live cultures every day!!! At breakfast, so it goes right into your system. I SWEAR BY THIS. Do not wait until later in the day to eat the yogurt, must be done it breakfast to be most effective. (Even on vacation, I will buy a single yogurt at a gas station & eat in the morning)
3. Take one acidolpholis pill a day - at breakfast.
4. Douche with vinegar and water once a month. Usually after your period. This I also swear by. If you've had a bad week and slipped on your sugar intake a little, then douche. *Warning: If you really slip and eat a lot of sugar, this won't work.

Hope this helps. I went 4 months without this horrible yeast infection, but I slipped MAJORLY . . . had cake, soda, donut and went through a loaf of bread in one week - what was I thinking?!!

Best of luck to everyone!

I forgot to say! People don't realize it's a yeast infection because there's no yeast coming out of the vagina, but there doesn't have to be. Also, please be aware, I never drink alcohol. I highly recommend to avoid alcohol to get this under control. Best, Lily Anne

Sorry to bust your bubble but I am a guy and I know that I have no yeast infection. Same thing, Like someone is pulling on a cord connected to my belly button. Also have pain in my prostate accompanying this. But quite sure not a yeast infection and doesn't seem to be limited to female gender..

I am a 47 year old male and have had the same sudden sharp pain in my belly button that has been described in these posts. I have had it off and on for about 8 years. Had a CAT scan about 5 years ago and they found nothing.Recently went back to the doctor to try to find the cause. He sent me to a urologist, thinking he might be able to figure it out. The urologist pretty much had no idea but wants me to have another CAT scan and a procedure where they feed some sort of camera up through....and into the bladder. I Really do not want this done, just the thought of it hurts. Back to the sharp pain. After this happens I feel a need to pee much more often and have like a "full" feeling around my belly button. For me it also brings on the sharp pain in my belly button if I pee during that time. I hope someones doctor will find the reason for this and share it with us all.

Wow... I'm amazed this is the first site I went to concerning this problem... I've had similar pains off and on for a few weeks (getting it a little more often now) and I had no clue what could be causing it... I've never noticed it extending to the genital area but it feels like a stabbing pain right around my belly button... It usually hurts when I turn or bend wrong and its just a sudden sharp stab... I was born with a stomach hernia, which the doc. told my parents would probably take care of itself over the years... I'm now 23 and haven't had any problems with it at all and not sure if my current pain could be caused by the hernia, or if I even still have it...

Whoever it was who posted about the yeast intrigued me as well... I have been taking in more sugar lately since I moved back home from my internship, so I'll cut back and watch what I eat for a while and see if that helps...

Thanks to all who posted!

OK, that makes sense to all the guys who are experiencing this pain. I am thinking from a woman's point of view and for me, it's a yeast infection. For the men, it may be a hernia. For all the women, try olive leaf extract (must be at least 18% oleuropein). Also, to the women who wear thongs, throw them out immediately! 75% of thong wearers get recurrent yeast infections. Best of luck to everyone.

Oh my god! I thought I was the only one!! I've never known why it happens, but it freaks me out every time, because I almost feel like I won't be able to walk ever again or something, and I won't be able to get up from a seated position.

It always goes away though, so I've never thought anything of it. It's just annoying when it does happen.

Kind of a relief to know other people have to same feeling though! lol

I am guessing that it could be a yeast thing for everybody. My girlfriend is going through this right now and I have noticed (she has too) that she has been eating lots of sugars lately and her immune system is kind of weak (she just got over being sick). For all the guys out there that say "I can't have a yeast infection"....well you do. Everybody has some form of yeast in their body, it's called Candida, look it up. I'll tell my girlfriend to go through the steps described to get rid of candida and see if that helps. I'll let everybody know. P.S. to the guy who drank a lot of beer it makes sense for you too, since beer uses yeast.

I had same thing and went to doctor, she said it was a urinary tract infection and gave me some antibiotics.

I am feeling a "stop in your tracks" pain from inside my belly button also. It does feel as if a string is being pulled inside and down. I just ended my cycle this month. Thought that might have something to do with it. However I am clueless now since men are experiencing it as well.

I have the same thing! Except last night I stretched too hard and it felt like my string broke and my belly button has been sore ever since. I dont feel the string but by belly hurts to touch :-( Going to the doctors tomorrow to try and figure this out

Add one more to the list. I'm a guy (31) and this has been happening to me since I was a teenager. Only happens 3 or 4 times a year, but is exactly as described in other posts. Seems to be more "strain" related--usually if I pick up something too heavy in a akward manner. The pain can be excrutiating requiring me to sit down and bend over to even pee. It usually goes away within a day. Never been to a doctor for it, but the pain has never stuck around long enough to warrant going to the doc. anyway. Nice to know I'm not the only one. Would sure be nice to know exactly what's going on.

This "pulling" pain definitely sounds like endometriosis. I experienced the same problem for years and finally had my gyno perform a laproscopy to find out if that was the problem. For the laproscopy, you have to be put to sleep and the doctor makes a small incision in your belly button to look inside with a tool that is kind of like a microscope to see if endometriosis is causing the pain. Endometriosis is when tissue grows on the uterus when it shouldn't basically and this causes a great deal of pain for some women, and for me it caused terrible cramps when I was on my period. The doctor doubted me when I mentioned that I thought I had it, but after performing the minor surgery, she said that I had a pretty bad case of it along with a couple ovarian cysts. Many women have endometriosis and there is no cause that is known. There is also no cure, but childbirth eases the symptoms a great deal, and birth control pills can help somewhat.
