Hi, I'm a 20 yr old female, this same exact thing happens to me and I finally went to the doctor for it today. They took an x ray and said I have a lot of stool in my colon and that I should change my diet to include more fiber and more fruits and vegetables. In my opinion I really don't think that that is the cause of this pain.. I don't really see how it correlates. I thought I would let everyone know what my doctor said in case it is correct since no one can figure it out... its a mystery.

well most pains in that area from my long history in the hospitals is due to intestinal tract irritation (obviously) this can happen for numerous reasons.
some of which include pressure from gasses,"Hard Stool",bacterial infection, foreign bacterial interactions, the C word, STD's, and digesting sharp/foreign objects.
One might want to try drinking a lot of water and some pepto. if above belly button, I hear coke does a good job. and if recurring and a dr visit doesn't help insist on a blood test and change your eating habits. something you are consuming could be the primary cause.

I am a 16 year old girl and this exact pain is happening to me as we speak. I was laying down and as I started to move it started to hurt as if "the string" was being pulled with that sharp belly button pain. I cant stand up straight because of the sharp pains. Also, after it happened, 5 minutes later I went to use the bathroom and I noticed blood. I didnt expect to be getting my period, and have never had these kinds of symptoms relating to it before. Im wondering if it does in fact have to deal with my period or if its something completely different. I read another post about someone going to the ER and who also bled with the same symptoms so now I am dreadfully worried.

i get this same pain and i am a guy and i haven't had any surgeries or anything of the sort i would like to know what this is though because it is extremely painful but also it hurts worse after i urinate

It's definitely NOT from ovulation or pregnancy as someone stated previously. I'm a 22yr old male and I get it every now and then. I think it has to do with something I've eaten (or not eaten) and/or gas, constipation, etc. Certainly gastrointestinal though, whichever it is. My gf gets it as well, calls it the ripping belly button lol

yeah same here. i get this sharp pain in my belly button. i can barley move and i end up on the ground. cant stand up straight or anything. ugh. it is painful. me and my brother get this. it really makes no sense at all why it happends... has anybody actually gone to the doctor about it??? i wonder what they would diagnose it as.... %-)

I am a 22 yr old male who experiences this same type of pain. While it has always happened to me here and there for the past few years, it happened last night while i was urinating and i almost had to double over in pain. I am very active, lifting weights 4+ days a week. Yesterday, prior to my painful urination, I had just got back from the gym where I had bench pressed a lot more than normal. Together with this, I did a lot of abdominal workouts too. I am hesitant to go see the doc because it does not hurt right now and it never lasts more than a couple minutes. I wish I could provide you all with some answers, but i am just as lost as the rest of you. My advice would be to stop lifting for a while, and be sure to fully stretch out your abdominal muscles before any workout.

I got the exact pain in my stomach, except im a guy. The only time this exact pain has occurred was when I was on shrooms, so maybe it's a stomach poisoning/food poisoning of some sort? Because that was the exact sensation I felt in my stomach. I had sharp pains, and it felt like my belly button was like attached to something and would have "ripped" if I stood too straight or stretched.

Hi im 15 male, I have the exact same problem and I have it right now. I don't really want to go to the doctors but I will if it gets any worse. I also have a bit of anxiety so thanks to everyone for posting on here helped me out heaps to understand whats happening and that I aint the only one.

I just had surgery 2 weeks ago because i had a hernia. The surgent explained my hernia like this, emagin your tissues like a sandwich, my hernia was fat weaving out one layer then pushing out the next and then weavong to the next layer. So i had his same pain and they always said female problems, but i went to this surgent and explained the pain and he ordered a ct scan and found something weird but he didn't know what was going on till he cut into me. The surgent took 4 hours and i have mesh but i haven't had that pain so far.

Pain in my tummy really hurts and feels like there is a string being pulled tightly.
I've been getting the pains whenever I stand up suddenly or stretch too far in the morning and I told my doctor and he just looked at me like I was crazy!
What does this pain indicate?
