Hello mommas! After five kids, including a set of twins, my body doesn't look the way it used to anymore. I am clinically obese, and I am very unhappy with my body image. I do think I owe it to myself and to my husband to try and change that, especially now we have decided there will be no more kids. I have started a weight loss program, and have already totally altered my diet. It came to my attention that egg yolks contains fat just recently, and I was wondering if I should throw away the egg yolk every time I consume eggs? Thanks for your advice!

I don't see why. If for some weird reason you have decided that egg yolks are evil, you still have five more people in your house by the sounds of things, and I am sure one of those could volunteer to eat your egg yolks :-). You can put egg yolks in cakes, they can be used to make wonderful home made mayonnaise (warning - very fattening!!!!) and many other things. I hate to see people be so wasteful with their food :-(.

The yolk is actually the healthiest part of the egg. A lot of good nutrition. I personally don't really like the yolk and tend to just eat the white part, but the yolk is good.

Actually, the yolk is NOT the healthiest part of the egg. There is no healthiEST part of an egg. While the yolk has benefits such as essential fatty acids, the egg white is PURE protein. :-) Not a single calorie.
But the answer is no. While egg yolks are very fatty, there's no reason not to have them once in a while. We need a basic amount of fat in our diet to stay healthy.
Say for example you eat an egg every single day. You can go one, maybe even two days a week without throwing out the yolk. You won't gain any weight from the yolk because there' not a lot to begin with, and it makes that egg just a little bit taster come breakfast time, nay?
:-) So go ahead. If you're an avid egg eater, try throwing a yolk in once a week.
Stay safe!
