Mine started a year ago and it doesn't do it every time I drink just every now and again. It will start after about 3 or 4 drinks and last about 30 min. It's so irritating.

Well, I don't know if you will get this but I have the same issue. I've been doing some research and I believe it is caused by your gallbladder. I have had issues with my gallbladder about 8 years ago but never a problem since..except when I drink. That pain is so bad sometimes that I've thought I was having a heart attack. I go tomorrow to be looked at. You ought to ask your DR. Heck, Goodlettsville gallbladder attacks and alcohol consumption.

I am a 34 year old mother of two and quit drinking a few years back due to this issue. Tried a few sips today and had instant neck and shoulder pain. I have IBS and alcohol has always bothered my stomach but only in the past few years has alcohol given me pain and tightness.

The same thing happens to me after drinking a few wine coolers. It's an allergic reaction to the sulfites in the drink.

Any chance anyone has made any headway???? I never noticed these symptoms until after pregnancy...and taking a break from drinking, it always passes but is really really an uncomfortable almost burning sensation.

I thought I was crazy when I linked the two. Now that I googled it and see so many other people saying the same thing, I know there must be a connection

Thank you, very much, I feel this is exactly what I've been experiencing and I'm almost excited to try a rum and DIET coke next time to see if I can avoid the muscle pain in my shoulders.

I am 38 and have had this forever! Only with wine based drinks such as wine coolers, and flavored malt drinks. No issue's with beer or straight wine. I do know I have a slight allergy to alcohol though. Usually my first few drink I either get a runny nose or snease... I think thats part of it.

I came to believe it only when you drink mix drinks on counter such as stores and aching on the shoulders and aching on the lower chest with some sick feeling in the stomach and after a couple of minutes it stops. It has to do with movements too....if you dont move around it all goes up and your body starts aching. Always try to drink beer or mix drinks that are made right on the spot not bought on the stores like Mikes, margaritas or Four lokos etc.

Go get ur liver enzymes checked. Is it more noticeable on ur right shoulder?
This can be a symptom of liver disease.
Have u ever been checked for hepatitis c? Sadly hepc is associated mostly with IV drug use. But they r now finding , but not talking much about dental work perhaps being a cause of getting hepc. I got mine from improperly sanitized dental tools. If u r older it's even more possibly to get it that way. No one ever checks to make sure the autoclave r getting as hot as they should. Anyway enough about hepc.
But liver disease cause shoulder disease on the right upper shoulder. Sort of a dull ache.
Could be gerd. If ur drinking beer, could just be to much fizz bubbles. The bubbles take up space and can cause pressure.
If u drink a lot ..... whats a lot u ask? More than 2 -3 drinks on a daily basis. Too much.
U may not be an alcoholic if u drink that much, but u r developing a habit. One that could turn into alcoholism.
Has ur life become unmanageable do to drinking? Time to slooow down. Give ur gut, gallbladder liver and kidneys a break. Lol.
If u know u have hep c. Stop drinking. Period.

You guys, your body is trying to tell you something in the only way it knows how.... pain, or feel a little sick when u first start to drink. Or perhaps a flushed face and chest area. Red and warm to touch. That's usually a sign of allergy.
Runny nose could be too. Alcohol is often not always, made from grains.
If I have hay fever to wheats and other grasses, u could be allergic to barley or hops.
Your body can't use words.
U have to learn the language and LISTEN!!! Are any of u eating hi fatty foods at the same time ur drinking? The
