What are the side effects of brachytherapy
Side effects of brachytherapy can be urinary symptoms of feeling a sense of urgency, wanting to frequently urinate, and urinary streams that are weak. It is quite possible to have erectile dysfunction, less or no ejaculation, or shortening of the penis. Other than the seeds possibly, but unlikely, migrating to another part of the body or being expelled in the ejaculate, the symptoms are generally in the urinary and reproductive systems. The symptoms that are urinary-based will subside as time goes on, however, the symptoms that affect the sexual functioning may be permanent. Some doctors recommend that patients "bank" their sperm in case of wanting to have children and they are unable to use their sperm after the brachytherapy.
