My dog is very old now, and has recently had some problems with rheumatism. My vet suggested that he can prescribe some steroids to help with the joint pain if I want. I don't want my dog to suffer and want him to have a comfortable old age. But with steroids, I am quite worried about side effects. After all, dogs can't tell you what they are feeling.

The poor thing! Steroids are known for their numerous side effects, both in humans and dogs. Weight gain, thirst and hunger and aggression are the most common side effects, but there are others as well. Mind you, arthritis is no fun either. I hope everything will work out OK.
