I was reading a bit about xylene and the dangers of this substance. It was interesting and quite eye-opening, as I have to admit I had never even heard of this substance before. It is funny how health dangers often lurk in places where you have no idea there is any danger at all. Does anyone else know anything about this? What do you think the real side effects of xylene are?

I was exposed to Goof Off (INHALATION) which has 10-30% Xylene, Accetone 60-100% and Ethylbenzene 4%. For three weeks now I have had breathing difficulties, light headiness and pulminary enbelisms that caused a pulminary infarction (death to lung tissue). I did have pre-existing lung conditions, Asthma and COPD.

The exposure was in the workplace when a contractor was stripping tile cement off of stairs outside my office. Although I have found mutible literture that states that Xylene if used in confined space can cause pulminary edema, most Doctors including my primary care and pulminoligist rejected the exposure as a cause for the PE's. There was one doctor who cited a potential relationship with the exposure and the develpement of the embelisms. It seems when you mention a workplace exposure the Doctors become very evasive, which is sad.

Too all, please be careful when using this product.
