it sounds like you have aphthae, or as they are also known, canker sore. The reason why they appear is not yet known and they usually go away on their own in a relatively short time. You'll be more prone to get them if you also had cold sores in your past.
They usually look like pimples, with white top and are not all that painful unless they are in the spot that would interfere with eating. You can visit your dentist to have it checked out since it's been there for 30 days,
