I think that's a good tip you've given. Sounds like yeast, a cheap way to find out is take a baking soda bath. 1/4 cup to a tub of water. Soak for about 10-15 minutes. If your skin feels better it may be yeast. Don't soak for too long or too often because it's douching and that may not be good. Sometimes, the yeast is just on your skin, and clotimazole or a generic (Monistat) cream will work on the affected area, otherwise it's vaginal and other treatment is needed. Some people put plain yogurt on a tampon over night and say it helps. Doctors in my area are prescribing Monistat 7 again, to be inserted in the vagina,  for over the counter. Diflucan for a prescription. Monistat 7 is better then the 1 or 3 day treatments, or so I'm told. To prevent, try eating plain yogurt and Acidolphilus. It's worked wonders for me. It's important to know: Bacterial infections have similar symptoms and you'd need to see a doctor to diagnose and prescribe. Usually Metrogel is prescribed. You can always take Benadryl to help with itching, unless you have an allergy to it.  Good Luck and remember it's only temporary. It'll go away, you just have to figure it out.

I recommend getting some Lemon Balm tincture which is basically lemon balm with alcohol. If that doesn't work for you try using Witch Hazel tincture. They will help almost instantly with the itch.

It's really not horrible to have unprotected sex if you are monogamous with your partner.

Clotimazole or miconazole (generic for Monistat.). Lotrimin cream also works. Try it elsewhere on your skin first to make sure you're not allergic. If you keep it the refrigerator the coldness sometimes helps. You can always call a Pharmacist for a recommendation. They're schooled for these things and are always very helpful, and free! Good luck!

Guest, a friend said that 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinigar in a very hot bath can help with UTIs and it brought me instant relief so I wonder if it would help with this type of infection too. The same woman said you can put a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water to drink which helps alkaline the acid in your body. Thanks for all the info about eating healthy because I haven't been eating very well lately with my son back home. I'm going back to simple, natural foods asap.

I have the exact same thing.  I went to the doctor today and she is certain it is a yeast infection - just a more severe case.  She prescribed a cream and taking a Canesten oral tab.  Also suggested a baking soda soak for 15 minutes morning and night.  I was worried it was something worse because I have small red bumps that look like pimples...turns out they're inflamed hair folicles that are irritated from the itching.  That said, i still suggest seeing a doctor for their opinion.

Thank you so much for all of your responses!  I have been having the same issue for two weeks.  I had protected sex with my partner and then started my period a day later. I hate to be graphic but we had both vaginal and anal sex.  I didn't know at the time that hygenically speaking its bad for you to have vaginal, then anal, then back to vagina sex.  Lessoned learned the hard way:(

It burned when I peed and my vagina iched horribly!  I also noticed 3 small red bumps on my outer labia.  I freaked out because I thought I was having an outbreak of genital warts (I have HPV but have never had an out break of warts). I went in to see my Gyno but she didn't seem to think they were genital warts.  In fact she didn't really know what they were.  She treated the three bumps with some topical acid (ouch! not fun) and then tested a culture sample and urine sample.  Neither sample came back with signs of bacterial infection.

Its been a week since I last saw my doctor and the bumps have gone away, but just tonight I discovered two more.  I'm going to try your suggestions about using over the counter yeast infection lotions on the actual bumps to see if that helps.  If that doesn't work I will go back into my Gyno (although I'm not super confident in her at the moment considering she can't tell me what these bumps are).

I can relate to this one. Mine is the same way. At times it itches so much that I have actually broken the skin, which makes it burn terribly. The doctor told me it was a fungal infection from taking Keflex and to treat it with anti-fungal creme which worked at first, but it has returned and the creme no longer works. It's very frustrating to itch all the time.

Sounds to me like you have a yeast infection but definately go see a doctor. Also, thing to remember about herpes is that they can be dormant for years and then can come out when your body is under stress. Sometimes you can have one outbreak of one herpe and not have another outbreak again for the rest of your life. That's why it's important to get tested for everything with the partner you decide to have sex with and that means having the ability to use good communication with them. If they aren't willing to get tested first they don't deserve a piece of that nice love box...haha. At any rate, I hear there is also a herpes virus test to see if you or your partner carry the virus. You can get it through kissing too so just using condoms doesn't protect you completely.
