I had a flu type virus and towards the end of it when I woke up in the morning my eyelids seemed to be glued together. When I had sorted that out they were still crusty. This went on well after the virus had gone. As it was over xmas with much celebrateing my husband suggested that it could be down to the booze. I laughed but having gone back to my normal intake it does seem a lot better. Still have to bathe my eyes occasionally, but I think he might be right (isn't he always >:( ). Still will go to the doc's if it doesn't go completely.
Good Luck

I suspect something in my previous allergy medications to trigger this carrousel.

I wonder if when you sleep on your side after drinking the upper most eye stays open (perhaps muscles are more relaxed through drink). Hence it only affects one eye.
(Bye the way I have just looked up Nocturnal lagophthalamos which was mentioned above and it says the problem is one eye not closing fully and it sounds to me as if this is the problem)
I will try a small piece of tape or an eye mask with a bit of extra padding on the bad eye.

Hi, think I may be able to help.
I had an eye condition for a long time not just after drinking, sounds like what a lot of you are describing. I happened to be going to the opticians for something else, but as soon as I walked in and she looked at me, she said "I know why you are here". Its called Blepharitis, which is caused by something called seborrhoeic dermatitis.
I know some of you have mentioned getting dandruff, or it being made worse by alcohol. And dandruff can be caused by.... seborrhoeic dermatitis!
