Stop drinking then

I have this same affliction and have had it for many years. It happens whenever I drink just a little too much and pass out. Very painful and incapacitating for several hours. I can only guess the cause. It's either some allergic reaction to the alcohol or sulfides in the alcohol or a physiological reaction to drinking heavily and passing out that somehow only targets my left eye. Feels very sore, like an eyelash has ingrown under my top eyelid. It waters like hell, stings and my eye is blurred. There is also a slight headache that comes with it focused on my left twmple and brow. My nose runs a lot too. I blow my nose, violently, drink plenty of liquids, especially hot liquids, take 2 aapirins and use Vicks vapor rub and inhale steam all the while patching my eye with gauze. These treatments seem to mitigate the pain and speed up recovery, but not too much. If I patch the eye and go back to sleep it usually goes away in a few hours. If I don't go back to sleep it takes a bit longer, but usually fades away by mid afternoon. The only way to stop this, imo, is to stop at two glaaaes of wine. I look at it as my penalty for drinking too much.

Same problem here... started about 5 years ago, mostly right eye. Last night both eyes for the first time, mostly the right. Intense pain, gritty. I assumed the watering and runny nose was from pain. Wakes me from a dead sleep. Agony. Still flashing in and out now 12 hours later. Excedrine helped. My doctor suggested a blocked oil capillary and to use heat, but others suggested a cool washcloth to lower swelling and that felt better... thanks to someone here for suggesting lubricant...and an eye mask. Maybe a cooling one. I'll try that. Not sure its only from drinking.. I dont drink frequently and I can't remember if it happens other times.Sad that no one had solutions. Its now 2021.

Can you tell my why my left eye waters and is scratchy after a night of drinking alcohol? It only happens to my left. It feels like there is sand in it.
