So very interesting. These are my symptoms:

* I notice them more as soon as I lie down to go to sleep, but they do happen at other times of the day (sitting at computer, when I'm just starting a work out, standing doing the washing up...)
* What happens is that I feel a certain sensation of tightness in the chest area and I know I'm about to have a chest spasm/thump thing. Then it feels as if my heart stops/pauses for a split second, before a muscle(?) spasms. I feel a thump and a hard twitch deep inside my chest in the middle, which sometimes goes up along the oesophagus. Then my heart or pulse seems to be a lot stronger (although mysteriously completely regular) for a few moments and then it's back to normal as if nothing ever happened. I don't feel any pain.
*These weird spasms can happen one after the other, or singly. They can happen many, many times a day or only two or three times.
*I can stop them happening. All I have to do (when lying down in my bed) is to take a breath in and slightly arch my back - it stops the spasm. This is no great victory though, because another one is ready to come at any moment. Sooner or later I manage to get to sleep. But I now actually dread going to bed because I know that as soon as I lie down all the spasms are going to happen and it's really worrying.

I am 46 but have had them on and off since I was 20. I am a life long vegetarian (who takes liver and fish oil supplements) and I'm very fit. Never smoked, don't drink much. Healthy diet (organic wholefoods etc).

Wish I knew what these spasms are. But it's interesting that I can make them stop (temporarily) which means it can't be a serious problem - although that doesn't stop me worrying.

P.S. I think it highly unlikely that these symptoms are due to a lack of calcium, potassium or magnesium. I'm the worlds biggest consumer of cheese (ever meal unfortunately. I am addicted). I also enjoy yoghurt and milk every day too. I'm brimming with calcium! I also eat plenty of organic fresh green veg, nuts, bananas etc. I don't really lack anything in my diet.

not necessarily diet per se I had been eating soups ( salty )... I was peeing out LOTS ... and my potassium was lower due to it being excreted like that I wasnt retaining and I was an avocado per day kinda chick.... and the low K causes heart rhythm issues add the anxiety and whammo :)

I'm having similar symptoms. Been experiencing small chest/heart spasms anywhere between 5 times a day/2wice a week or not in 2 weeks, for a few months now. Went to the doctors and had a blood test and ecg, they said it all looked normal but I didn't have a spasm during the ecg. My
Girlfriend thinks it could be caused by anxiety about it being a serious condition. And since I have worked on being less anxious I have notice it has been happening less often. But when I smoke a lot of weed it does sometimes come back. Anyone got any idea if it's something I should worry about? Or will go away with a cut down in ganja?

Same here, I am also 23 years old and experience this all the time. Especially while I am lying down, or really, just trying to relax. I wouldn't know what a heart attack feels like, but it feels as if I am about to have one. No pain though. I try breathing exercises, but they don't really help. I would do anything to stay away from medications as I hear the long term side effects they can cause. I am in great shape and exercise several times a week and am not currently taking any medications. I do notice that I tend to have these more often when I have caffeine. So I am lowering my caffeine intake to see if they stop. Doubt it though, because as I am typing this I haven't had Caffeine in a few weeks.

You have MCs multi chemical sensitivity I've had this for17years it is a illness and more recognised now its not an allergy its a serve form of sensertivity but also you are ill with pollen also which is allergen based illness so you have both i on the other hand have the chemical reactions and if you continue to react to more things its called spreading I use simple products and surcare washing products which can be found in UK supermarkets I'm also on medication that dulls the sensertivity so I can have more a normal life but I cannot work unfortunately as I'm put in situations that make me ill
I can have very serious breathing problems and feel like I'm dyeing until I'm rid of the problem thats around me l have been tested for asthma and it is not that
An allergy clinic diagnosed me
I assure you its not in your head it is real my mother has it so it can be headerity
If yo talk to other people you find most do react to one thing but in my case it is a lot of things like the ones you mention which does make life quite difficult
I'm glad you have found a way to live with it so have I it takes years to perfect and buying products that you can tolerate good luck di
