Over the past 7 to 8 months or so, I started spotting between periods and my periods have been longer. I have also been getting sharp stabbing pains above my pelvic bone in between periods. Well, starting about 2 weeks ago, I have been getting these pains everyday at different times of the day. It got to the point, I couldnt even stand up straight, and have had to leave work early twice now. I thought this is it. Im going to find out whats wrong. After blood work, and an ultra sound everything is coming up normal. So now Im in extreme pain and was basically told if I cant handle it, go to the E.R. This is very upsetting to me. What are they going to do. Give me a pain shot and send me on my way, is all I can see happening. My own doctor didnt give me anything for pain, and believe me, motrin is not even dulling the pain. I had my tubal ligation over 5 years ago. My doctor used the rings around the tubes. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or can steer me in the right direction. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Bethybee,
First, I am not a physician but reading this sounds like a lot of other stories I have heard. Have you heard of Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome? Many of the symptoms you write about are the same as what others have experienced right down to tests being performed and coming back normal. And, you do not have to be a physician to know that taking anything daily for unexplained pain is not good for your body.
I do know there are many women who suffer from Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome also called PTLS for short. Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is now in the process of collecting data from their patients that go there for tubal reversal. Women who have had the reversal are writing that the problems associated with PTLS begin to diminish almost immediately. The site has both a message board and videos that explain what others have gone through with this syndrome.
I hope you get the answers you very much deserve. No one should have to be in pain and certainly if in pain the root of the problem should be addressed.
