I wanted to use the 6 subs I had to detox over a week but now im considering taking some methadone to try and ease the secondary w/d's... will that ruin my detox if I just took it today then continued the sub taper tomorrow?

I agree w/u 100% and im sorry that addiction knocked you down but sound's like you are on this bumpy road we call recovery I'm also on sub's and they really work they also saved my life because I would not be here I was addicted to heroin,methadone you name it!! when I first got sober I didn't even know myself and I was using drug's to cover up childhood abuse NOT physical pain but no matter how we have become addicted doesn't matter it's how we try and try again to get ourselve's back on solid ground I just lost my husband to a drug od on x-mass eve and through the agony, pain, sadness I managed to not use opiate's however I must confess that I did drink 2 times I just couldn't take it luckily im not a alcoholic and it get's me sick the next day! if I can do it ANYONE can!!

SHORT ACTING NARCOTICS __ Methadone , being long acting takes a very long time to get out of your system.
I was told by the doctor at the VA that you have to be below 30 mg. of methadone daily for a period of time before you can safely switch to Suboxone / Buprenorphhine.
Lower your dose of methadone each day -- the better ......
The lower your daily dose of methadone the better.
30 mg daily of methadone is just a guideline. Everyone's body will act differently to methadone.
So make sure you ask your doctor about what mg. of methadone you need to lower to in order to make the switch from methadone to buprenorphrine / suboxone safely !!!
