My husband has had the same thing on and off for years. We have even had to go to the ER because his lip swelled so big and it started in his throat. Today the sole of his foot is extremely swollen and his bottom lip has started to swell. Nobody has answers. We've tried to weed out medicines, foods etc to no avail. We are at a loss for what to do now.

Hello, I want to also share moy experience with this sickness. I was having some swellings on my lips or on my genitals once a year till 2012. At that year I had 2-3 times of swellings in my body. In 2013 it startad to happen every 2 months and in first half of 2014 I was having it every month. In the second half I had it in every two weeks.

Last december I had it almost every other part. Under feet, ankles, lips, hands, inside of arms... By the way I was all the time going to doctor since 2012 and all my blood experiments were fine. Doctors were saying it is angioodema but not heredity angioodema.

I was  observing myself why is this happening but what I could only find is it happens in random times and mostly with physical pressure. For example I stand too much next day I ve swelling on foot or I workout for biceps and my arm is swollen (not always but randomly). Sometimes when I get constipation, my as****e and my balls get swollen but as I say not always randomly.

So in the beginning of January I was suffering it almost everyday. On 7th of december I started to use a medicine called "Zyrtec" (10mg) and used it everyday for 15 days. Till yesterday I was using it and for 15 days I have not faced any swellings. From today I will try to use some other antihistaminic (5mg) to reduce the amount and I want observe myself.

I am not a doctor but I am sharing what is helping me. Hope you will all get good and get rid of those swellings. All the best. Smile.

Your description of something stuck to the bottom of your sock, swelling and itching is an exact description of my symptoms. This only started three weeks ago. Firstly, my right leg below the knee suddenly swelled up, the swelling lasted twenty four hours and I didnt think much of it. Two weeks later my left leg suddenly swelled, but this time it was very painful and lasted two days. On the third day the pain had gone and I thought the episode had passed, but by late afternoon I had an itch on the arch of my left foot and the swelling and redness you described. Now a week later I have the same itch, swelling, redness in my left foot. Had a scan and going to get results of blood test tomorrow, although the doctor had know idea what it could be.

My son who is 12 experiences the same symptoms. He has eczema, and is allergic to eggs. I have always been baffled when he gets hives in unusual places like the fingers or feet, and he hasn't had any food within the past hour or two, or even wakes up with some swelling. I just could not explain any reason for them. I'm so glad I "bumped" into this post. Now I know he is not the only one.

Anyone have the symptoms but other thank lip swelling, it's my eyes?!?! Why?!? Scary and strange with no reasons, it just happens. Within ten minutes of the hands and feet itching and burning, my eyes swell almost completely shut and my nose plugs so badly that I can barely breath. Benadryl id the only thing that helps but it takes about 30-45 minutes

I have had these same symptoms for 3 years. Random swelling in the eyelids, lips, cheek, tongue, throat, inside chest somewhere(feels like gas), finger tips, palms, back of hands, bottoms of feet. It usually starts with a tingling or itchy sensation. If I take a 180 mg allegra (non-drowsy) or equivalent right when I sense a attack, it helps keep swelling down.
Went in for allergy tests, $1500, no results. They claimed Angiodema, but I think he googled the symptoms and then came back to tell me. It seems to get worse when I eat lots of salt or highly processed meat, i.e: summer sausage. Maybe its MSG. I don't know, cant seem to pinpoint it. Often, I will wake up in the morning with swelling, fine when I went to sleep. I haven't tried the food elimination diet yet, but that is in the near future. I am almost thinking some sort of preservative in food is causing it. I will post results if I ever find out, (have followed this thread for 3 years)

in 2010 the swellings started for me. warm, itchy, red and locaslised in just one spot, would start off relatively small and spread to quite a big size and then would go down within 2-48 hours. i found a pattern that it only happened just before my period. back then i use to get it once or twice a month (before my period). it went away for a while and then 2 years later in early - mid 2012 they came back this time i noticed it was happening after/at the end of my period. it started with a small lump on my wrist and spread across my whole wrist and a little into my hand, sometimes would spread fully onto my hand around my thumb and index finger, these use to last up to 2 days usually and they were sore and felt weird when i lay my wrist on a flat surface. i got them randomly - on the bottom of my foot, side of my thighs, fingers, the balls under the fingers, chin, ear etc but i would only get them one place at a time. then in august 2012 my lip started off with a little lump which grew and grew until i ended up looking like a botoxed angelina jolie. went to the hospital was given all these drugs and the next day it had gone down quite a bit but took quite a few days to go back to normal. had tests, allergist said it was angiodema (only because 10 years before that my face swelled up due to rubbing against plant food aka poison and i told him that). they couldnt find any actual allergies. my mum went to the pharmacist who said a spike in histamines or something during the period causes an immune reaction or something along the lines of and gave me fexofenadine (i think thats telfast). a month after that my eye swelled. then i only got tiny ones and not very often. for about a year i had almost nothing. now they have come back started with small ones usually always on my knees or elbows and wouldnt get very big and would be gone within a few - 24 hours. now they are coming back to my wrist, my butt cheek, my thigh, big knee and elbow ones, shoulder everywhere and now just seem to not really have a pattern with my period. i cant figure out a food pattern as ive kept a diary. when i see one is getting big and its bothering me i take the fexofenadine which seems to help calm it down and stop it from getting bigger. doctors dont know whats wrong with me and they just keep saying to do allergy tests which ive already done. ive dont standard blood tests, thyroid, autoimmune everything has come back normal. im just scared that im going to end up with more lip swelling or worse. help! what has your doc said??!!

forgot to say - the ones on my joints always feel bruised after they have gone away and sometimes there is some discolouration/bruise look. the wrist and more limb like ones do feel a bit sore/tender during and afterwards but not as bad as the knees do - sometimes it hurt to lie on that side if my knee is touching the bed on that point!

I had this happen to me on Feb 15, 2015. My husband and I went to dinner on 2/14 and the next morning I woke up and could feel a slight tingling in my lip from the inside and touched it and was horrified. I have very full lips but my top lip was 3 times the size! I chalked it up to the shrimp I had for dinner, thought maybe I had been intoxicated by them. A couple of weeks later the same thing. It has happened bout 4 times now and the last week my left hand got very itchy and swollen and hard. I have been taking claritin every time it happens and it seems to go away shortly after that but I want to know what is causing it and what can keep it from coming back. I now have to carry claritin with me at all times for fear that my lip swells in public or my bigger fear that my throat swells and I can't breath.
